Diablo 4’s new Spiritborn class has a ton of Uniques to choose from; not just class-specific ones but also Uniques/Mythics that already existed in the game. Some of these might be a little obvious, but I still feel they’re worth mentioning. I am basing this off of the general power of the gear on offer, what I’ve seen in player builds, and my thoughts on what I think the best gear is going to wind up being when it comes to Spiritborn Uniques.
Spiritborn have some amazing class-specific Uniques right out of the gate in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred, and I can see many of them being must-have equipment. Unfortunately, not all of them can make the cut. Here are my picks for the best Uniques for a Spiritborn right now.
Note: This article is partly based on the author's opinion.
What are the 10 best Uniques to use on a Spiritborn in Diablo 4?
1) Harlequin Crest
Harlequin Crest is one of the best Uniques in Diablo 4 end of discussion, so of course it would be amazing on a Spiritborn. The only builds that can’t use this require a very specific helmet for their loadout, and I don’t think that’s going to be common in the Spiritborn class. That said, they do have a few very excellent helmets, but I don’t know how much of a must-have they will be.
The 20% damage reduction and +4 ranks in all skills make Harlequin Crest such a must-have in Diablo 4. That’s on top of Cooldown Reduction, more health, +Maximum Resource, and Armor. It’s truly among the best of the best when it comes to gear.
2) Tyrael’s Might
Speaking of obvious choices, Tyrael’s Might is one of the best pieces of gear in the game, as long as you’re at full health. Combine this with a Barrier setup, or enough damage, and you won’t ever take damage in the first place. When you’re at full life, this armor deals a divine barrage, similar to the Holy Bolt potion that has since been removed from the game.
This also has damage reduction of 20%, but it adds Movement Speed, All Elemental Resistance, and +Maximum Resistance to All Elements. It’s an amazing bit of tanky armor that cannot have its durability lowered.
3) Ring of the Midnight Sun
Ring of the Midnight Sun is for Spiritborn in Diablo 4 who really want to punish enemies without having to do much in the way of work. It increases your Dexterity, Fire/Lightning Reistance, +Ranks of Mirage, and Critical Strike Damage, which are all huge for a fast-paced class like the Spiritborn. However, it does a little something extra that I’m a huge fan of. It gives you the Counterattack ability permanently! Well, as long as this ring is equipped, anyway.
This means even if you don’t have any ranks in the skill, you get a flat +10% Dodge chance, and anytime you dodge an enemy attack in close range, you hit them for minimum 80% damage. More ranks mean more damage, on top of that.
4) Harmony of Ebewaka
Harmony of Ebewaka grants you some pretty serious buffs for a Spiritborn in Diablo 4. Your primary Spirit Hall pick turns all abilities you use into that type (Centipede, Jaguar, Eagle, Gorilla), in addition to its other types. This Unique helmet also makes your secondary Spirit Hall choice do the same thing!
It also adds more Velocity, Movement Speed, All Stats, and Damage Reduction. In addition, for each Spirit type an ability has, it gains 10%-30% (multiplicative) damage! That can be a huge return, depending on how you’ve set things up.
5) Rod of Kepeleke
The Rod of Kepeleke in Diablo 4 makes your Spiritborn Core Skills so much more powerful than ever before. Alongside more ranks of Velocity, chance for Core Skills to hit twice, Critical Strike Damage, Block Chance, and Maximum Resource, it makes all Core Skills into Basic Skills. It also makes them free to cast, but they do deal reduced damage based on Vigor cost.
However, if you cast a Core Skill at Maximum Vigor, it consumes all Vigor to make the ability do full damage, cast at its largest Size, and becomes a guaranteed Critical, with 1%-3% (multiplicative) increased Critical Strike Damage for each point of Vigor spent. It takes a little work and planning to make it really pop off, but I’m a huge fan of what it could do.
6) Temerity
Sometimes in Diablo 4, you just want something to help you stay at full health, and Temerity will help Spiritborn do just that. It gives you a Lucky Hit chance to heal, increases healing received, reduces damage while Healthy, and increases Maximum Life overall. It doesn’t have a ton of armor, but it does a lot to keep you healthy.
What makes Temerity so great, is that effects that heal you above 100% life grant a Barrier for 40%-100% of your Maximum Life that will last for eight seconds. You can also drink Healing Potions while at full life. This allows you to put up a powerful barrier in a pinch, to prevent something from demolishing you. What an amazing pair of pants Temerity are!
7) Nesekem, the Herald
Spiritborn in Diablo 4 received a new weapon type, in the form of the glaive, so it only made sense to make a Mythic Unique for that type. That gives us Nesekem, the Herald. It gives an incredible +200 to all stats, +Maximum Life, +250% Critical Strike Damage, +450% Overpower damage, and does 400% damage to Elites. You become a boss/elite killing machine with this on.
Every five seconds, you also randomly mark a Nearby enemy. These targets are Vulnerable, and attacks against them will always Crit and Overpower. If you hit a marked target 10 times, it clears the mark away, but with the kind of damage you do now, it won’t matter.
8) Sepazontec
As a Centipede enjoyer in Diablo 4, Sepazontec is the ideal weapon for me in many cases as a Spiritborn. A powerful quarterstaff, it has a chance to make Basic Skills do double damage, and adds ranks to Follow Through and gives Basic Lucky Hit Chance. It also adds +Dexterity, which is never bad as a Spiritborn.
It makes your Basic Skills do more damage (25%-50%), and always uses their third Attack. Every third cast of a Basic Skill also strikes three times. A good example is that the Centipede Basic explodes in a wider range on the third hit. That means it’s always going to do that, and do it three times, to boot. You can do a ton of damage in short order with Sepazontec.
9) Rakanoth’s Wake
Rakanoth’s Wake isn't the flashiest Unique in Diablo 4, but don’t let that distract you. It’s a nice, solid, reliable pair of shoes. They make your attacks reduce Evade’s Cooldown by 1.5 seconds, keeping you nice and agile at all times. You also get more Movement Speed and Cooldown Reduction, next to All Elemental Resistance and more Non-Physical Damage.
The +57-75% Non-Physical Damage can be incredible in so many Spiritborn builds. However, anytime you cast a skill with a cooldown, you explode, dealing Fire damage. That effect isn’t my favorite - the Evasion cooldown is. That said, it all comes together to make a very nice, powerful package.
10) Jacinth Shell
Jacinth Shell might be my favorite Diablo 4 Unique for Spiritborn, just based on the concept. While you’re damaged, you gain Damage Reduction, but you also gain Life on Hit, Maximum Life, and ranks of Endurance. When you spend Vigor, you heal 1%-10% of your Maximum Life as well, which is pretty neat, as far as special effects go.
However, every second, your active Cooldowns each drain 10% Maximum Life from you, to reduce their durations by three seconds. You’re constantly losing life, and dealing damage to gain life back. I’m just fascinated by this, and I want to see it stand out. It’s such an amazing concept, and I’ve seen it in a few builds so far.
