Diablo 4 Rogues have an incredible new build to play — Dance of Knives. It’s arguably one of the strongest builds in the game right now, thanks to the power of a new skill and the classic Victimize Key Passive. While leveling as a Dance of Knives build, we won’t be using Victimize, as it requires Lucky Hit that we just won’t have as leveling players. However, it will be required in the end-game build.
There are Uniques that can make this build stronger, too. They’ll also be needed in the end-game build. One in particular is Fists of Fate, which can increase the amount of damage your attacks do.
If you want to start working on your Dance of Knives build, here’s what you need to do on your Rogue in Diablo 4.
How to play Dance of Knives Rogue build in Diablo 4
A Rogue Dance of Knives build in Diablo 4 is incredibly easy to play, and it’s satisfying to watch it in action. It’s fast, deals tons of single-target and AOE damage, and doesn’t really need a lot while leveling. If you took the time to pick up your various extra skill points through Map Objectives, you can roll a Rogue in Season 6 and immediately pick up Dance of Knives.
As you’re playing this build, you’ll want to have Puncture, Dance of Knives, Dash, Dark Shroud, Smoke Grenade, and Shadow Clone.
For your Rogue Specialization, you’ll use Inner Sight, and Momentum for your Key Passive. You have a ton of movement, crowd-control abilities, and the right damage tools. Between these and the Aspect of Arrow Storms, you’ll have more than enough damage.
Using this build is super simple in Diablo 4. You hold Dance of Knives down, use the Imbuement of your choice, and that’s it! Now, there’s a little more nuance, mind. Shadow Clone can be used on stronger enemies and when Inner Sight triggers.
When dealing with powerful Elites and bosses, hit them with a Smoke Bomb to increase overall outgoing damage. We’ll be using Dash early on, and you can swap to Shadowstep later because it is a blink move that also grants Unstoppable.
Evading near enemies is also a great idea to trigger Rogue’s many useful passives and the Shroud of Khandrus buff if you have that piece of gear. Below is the list of skills you’ll be picking to level.
There are a few Uniques you should probably keep an eye out for. The Umbracrux and Fists of Fate are amazing in this build. They increase your damage by such a large margin.
Legendary Aspects, Gems, and Rune combos for Diablo 4 Rogue Dance of Knives builds
There are plenty of amazing Legendary Aspects for leveling up a Dance of Knives Rogue in Diablo 4. However, there are some that are stronger than others.
Aspect of Arrow Storms is one of my favorites for lots of Rogue builds. It’s a Lucky Hit ability that makes your Marksman and Cutthroat Skills have an up to 25% to create an Arrow Storm at the enemy’s location. They also deal increased damage.
We also have a new Aspect, Aspect of Star Shards, that is a must-have. It makes your Dance of Knives projectiles have a 50% chance to shatter into six shards of metal on hit, dealing physical damage. It also makes the ability spend Combo Points, which grants up to three additional Charges that can exceed the maximum. It’s truly remarkable.
- Helm: Aspect of Concussive Strikes
- Chest: Enshrouding Aspect
- Gloves: Aspect of Explosive Verve
- Pants: Juggernaut’s Aspect
- Boots: Wind Striker Aspect
- Amulet: Aspect of Star Shards
- Ring #1: Aspect of Iron Rain
- Ring #2: Aspect of Volatile Shadows
- Dual-Wield Weapon #1: Vengeful Aspect
- Dual-Wield Weapon #2: Aspect of True Sight
- Ranged Weapon: Aspect of Arrow Storms
There are plenty of great Rune Combos to go with, and they can be a little difficult to get. However, if I’m going to pick two, it’s Bac+Ohm (War Cry after moving), because of the fast rate of travel Rogues have, and Noc + Tzic (Inflict CC that isn’t Slow/Chill to Concussive Stomp). You also need some gems as you travel through the new content:
- Weapons: Sapphire
- Amulet: Skull
- Armor: Emerald
- Rings: Emerald/Sapphire
Best Mercenary for Diablo 4 Rogue Dance of Knives leveling build
The hands-down best choice for Diablo 4 Rogue Dance of Knives leveling build’s Mercenary pick is Subo. His ability to uncover all hidden enemies makes it easy for you to spot big enemies like Elites. They also uncover items like Ore/Herbs, making them easy to farm for potion upgrades.
His Ambusher ability grants 20% (multiplicative) Lucky Hit chance when he uses Salvo, meaning he’s going to make those Arrowstorms so much more dangerous. You also want to make sure to pick Share a Drink since you’re going to be popping potions often for the extra damage. Your Reinforcement Mercenary should be Raheir. Pick Bastion and link it to Shadow Clone.
