Diablo 4 couch co-op still has critical bugs Blizzard refuses to acknowledge

While couch co-op with Diablo 4 isn’t an important part of the community, it still has a voice but doesn’t appear to have been heard. A fun aspect of such games is playing alongside friends or family, sharing a couch, and slaughtering the forces of evil. Unfortunately, that hasn’t been possible since D4 launched 18 months ago.

This has affected many players, including Redditor thebestthingsinlife2, who has displayed exactly what happens in Diablo 4 couch co-op. In addition, they also showed well over 20 forum posts, with no one on the support team even acknowledging the bug.

18 months later, Diablo 4’s couch co-op still doesn’t function as intended

The issue with Diablo 4’s couch co-op mode is that it breaks essentially every build in the title. If a build requires Attack Speed or Basic Attacks, the game becomes unplayable. Playing solo, however, is fine. But as the above Reddit post shows, if two people are playing the game at once, Attack Speed doesn’t work. The stats will show, but they don’t affect the game as they should.

It also completely breaks character animations, making players' attacks and their audio stutter. It will appear as though the attack happened twice, but it didn’t. The peculiar thing about this is that it doesn’t always affect both players. It’s unclear what triggers it, but more often than not, both players end up suffering.

According to the Reddit post, it’s not network-related, since the glitch stops triggering if the other player leaves. If they rejoin the party, everything will be fine until the players zone again. This happens on all platforms. It has been going on since the beta, and despite dozens of reports, Blizzard Entertainment has not acknowledged the glitch.

I also encountered this issue around the first year of launch, when I was finally able to play couch co-op with a friend. I assumed it would get fixed, but it appears that it has not. As someone who seldom plays couch co-op in Diablo 4, and more often than not, plays Necromancer builds, which aren’t as Attack Speed intensive, this is something I may have missed.

For the most part, the community would be happy for Blizzard to simply acknowledge the bug, and to know that the developers “are working on it.” Many players are upset that their gameplay has been impacted and no one from the developer's side has acknowledged this bug.
