One of the more popular Diablo 4 endgame builds for Rogue has to be Dance of Knives. It’s a fun build while leveling, but can easily transition into an endgame build capable of devastating anything in its path. You only really need one combat button, and that’s the Dance of Knives itself. Everything else helps set up your damage or keep you safe. However, this is an endgame build, so it needs a lot of setup.
Ideally, you’re going to need one Mythic Unique, and several other Uniques to make this build kick-off. There is a version that is set for players, who are still leveling, but you'll want this build once you're ready to tackle endgame.
How to set up a Dance of Knives build for Rogues in Diablo 4
The Dance of Knives build for Rogues in Diablo 4 is so fun. It’s basically Spin to Win. You set up your Dance of Knives, hold it down, and just melt everything in your path. However, if you really want this build to move, you want +190% Movement Speed (after buffs). One thing that makes this build so great, is that it doesn’t require Energy management — your primary attack uses charges, and through your setup, you won’t run out of them easily.
By stacking Attack Speed, alongside the Aspect of Star Shards Legendary Aspect, you can obliterate packs of enemies with almost no effort. You’re going to want to use the following skills on your bar, although there are several ways to run this. This is the setup I prefer.
- Cold Imbuement
- Shadow Imbuement
- Concealment
- Dark Shroud
- Blade Shift
- Dance of Knives
Blade Shift will be used to get some stacks going on your Asheara’s Khanjar, as you can see in the ideal rotation below. It’s not too hard to play this build, but it’s going to take some work to perfect it.
When channeling Dance of Knives as a part of this Diablo 4 Rogue build, you want to have at least 4 Charges of the skill before you begin. Preparation restores them, and the Yom Runeword will trigger Druid’s activate. Use nice, smooth circles, and don’t stop on enemies. Just keep moving.
Ideal rotation
- Use Blade Shift/Dance of Knives to get five stacks of Asheara’s Khanjar/Alchemical Advantage (Blade Shift preferred, only do this when you lack stacks)
- Pop two Health Potions to trigger Yax+Qax Runewords (Requires Unstable Elixirs)
- Activate Dark Shroud
- Activate Shadow Imbuement (clearing), or Cold Imbuement (bossing)
- Use Concealment
- Channel Dance of Knives
Thanks to the Bac + Yom Runewords, you can reset your Cooldowns/Dance of Knives charges by moving around (Preparation will also help in this regard). You’ll also use the Runewords Yax + Qax to spend energy to deal increased damage. This makes slaughtering groups of enemies incredibly simple. For this reason, Preparation is the ideal Specialization for a Dance of Knives Rogue build in Diablo 4.
In Vessel of Hatred, you’re going to want Subo as your primary Mercenary, and Varyana as the secondary (Bloodthirst+Concealment). You'll need the following Subo abilities as well:
- Molotov
- Share a Drink
- Snipe
- Ambusher

In this link, courtesy of D4Builds, I’ve uploaded the ideal Paragon Board. Do keep note of a few things - such as the specific rotation of the boards and the levels of the specific Glyphs used. You’re going to want these Glyphs at level 46, for the maximum possible reach.
What is the BiS gear for a Rogue Dance of Knives build in Diablo 4?
There are plenty of ways you can gear this Diablo 4 Dance of Knives Rogue build — provided you have +2,000 Dexterity, +190% Movement speed, and some other key stats.
You want 100% Capped Attack Speed on both weapons, for instance. Some players prefer to have Heir of Perdition and Tyrael’s Might as Uniques, but that doesn’t fit with the build I use. You can find the ideal stats/gear in the sheet below.
