A huge change is coming with Diablo 4’s Vessel of Hatred expansion: Raids! While very little information is known about it, there’s a good chance it will either replace or supplement the current end-game system for World Bosses. There’s also a chance it will be similar in concept to Diablo Immortal’s Helliquary system.

The developers have promised an update on the Blizzard developer blogs soon, as to what players can expect for Raids in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred. The image above is the only clue about what is on the way for players when the next major update hits in October 2024.

Blizzard Entertainment made an official announcement on June 13, 2024, concerning Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred receiving Raids as a new form of content. They didn’t offer much in the way of information, other than that multiplayer players will gather together to tackle new threats:

“Lurking within the shadows lies your next great challenge, filled with powerful tribulations and promising rewards. First of its kind to Diablo, this dungeon will require eager warriors to team up and take down various perils together. More details on this game mode will be revealed soon.”

Hopefully, this Raid system in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred will feature a Party Finder/Matchmaking System. Since the game only supports a four-person party at this point in time, it’s likely that raids will keep that same number of people. If you’ve ever taken part in a World Boss or fought a Blood Maiden in D4, you’ll know how out of control it gets, and how quickly the screen packs with attack animations, thanks to 10-20 people all rushing in at once.

It’s a highly exciting prospect, given that it’s Blizzard. While it’s a different team from World of Warcraft, they do have access to a group of developers who have been creating challenging raid content for a variety of group sizes for 20 years. If they combine their knowledge while developing Diablo 4’s raids, we could be in for some exhilarating content in the future.

While some people are upset and worried it could “ruin the single-player experience,” it’s important to keep in mind that World Bosses now die in a matter of seconds. Many of them get killed in one shot by Level 100 players. If you don’t show up to say, Avarice the Gold-Cursed right away, it will be dead within moments.

Diablo 4’s developers have not commented further on raids in the upcoming Vessel of Hatred expansion, but fans will have information soon, according to their blog post.
