Diablo 4 Grigoire boss guide: Mechanics, drop table, tips, and more

Diablo 4 Grigoire

Grigoire, The Galvanic Saint is one of Diablo 4’s many end-game bosses. You can summon him on either Tier 3 or Tier 4 difficulty, provided you have the correct amount of material components. He’s a challenging boss to fight, but far from the most difficult. With just a little bit of preparation, you can overcome his incredible attacks, and potentially loot some of the best in the game from the Galvanic Saint.

Flay Barbarians, in particular, may want to grind out this fight, since he can drop Rage of Harrogath, one of the best uniques for that build. Below, we’ll highlight where you can fight this enemy, his primary attacks, and loot that he has the potential to drop. Here’s how to deal with Grigoire, The Galvanic Saint in Diablo 4.

How to summon Grigoire in Diablo 4

To battle Grigoire in Diablo 4, you need to have Living Steel and take it to the Level 75 dungeon, Hall of the Penitent. If you’re playing on Tier 3, you need 2x Living Steel, and 5x Living Steel on Tier 4. If you want the most potent form of this boss, summon Torment Grigoire with 15x Living Steel and 2x Stygian Stones. Those stones drop from The Pit if you complete it within the time limit.

Living Steel is a reward from a variety of spots in Diablo 4. You can get it in your Tortured Offering Chests or slaying the Hellborne in Helltides. Occasionally, they will drop from Treasure Goblins in Helltides, but those are rare. You can also farm Living Steel from World Bosses, World Event Chests, and your Greater Whisper Caches. It doesn’t take much to have several stacks of this resource.

Ked Bardu is likely your closest teleport point to this dungeon. So, teleport over and ride to the Hall of the Penitent when you’re ready to fight Grigoire in Diablo 4. It’s a short walk when inside, just head north and you’ll see the altar in no time. On World Tier 4, you want to be at least Level 75 before tackling him, to be safe.

Before you go to fight Grigoire in the first place, make sure you have enough Lightning Resistance. It’s safer to just have it capped out at 70% to reduce incoming damage as much as possible. Barring having a few solid Topaz gems, a Potent Elixir of Lightning Resistance works too.

This is because Grigoire almost immediately activates lightning squares on the floor in this Diablo 4 boss battle. The resistance will help in case you take damage, but be prepared to move. Grigoire is fond of placing circular lightning AOEs on the ground that explode after a few seconds. He has some devastating ball lightning attacks too, so keeping behind him is preferred.

He’ll spit these out in waves, so stay mobile. This is easier on a Minion Necromancer, which is how I prefer to farm this boss for unique drops. It’s not a very large arena you fight him in, so always keep a close eye on what you’re doing and where you’re moving.

Another attack this boss uses is a series of lightning lines. The lightning spires will connect in crackling red lines, and hitting them will inflict serious damage. He can summon adds to help him at 40%, but they aren’t especially deadly.

Grigoire will drop a number of items of varying quality upon defeating him in Diablo 4. In my case, during the last fight with him, he dropped the Penitent Greaves and a Blood Artisan’s Cuirass in the second. As far as non-equipment is concerned, he can also drop Shards of Agony, along with Abtruse Sigils.
