Diablo 4 has announced a new Halloween event, and while they’re being tight-lipped on the specifics, it’s honestly an amazing idea. During the event, players will be able to pick up some free cosmetics, while potentially meeting a demonic version of the Butcher, in an event that is hilariously called Trick or Meat. We don’t exactly know what the event will entail, but it promises to be hilarious and brutal in equal measures.
This Halloween event will only be available for a limited time in-game, between October 29 through November 5, 2024. The best part about this event is it won’t take you away from grinding Season Objectives or anything else in the title.
Diablo 4 Halloween event offers free cosmetics, and an incredible trick-or-treat mechanic - Trick or Meat
The Diablo 4 Halloween event will only be around for a few days, but it brings with it free cosmetics, as well as an event that can (and likely will take place) in every dungeon you explore. The four free cosmetics will be available only until November 5 at 12 pm PT, but each day will feature a new item:
- October 29: The REcluse’s Host Mount
- October 30: Ichorflame Torch Mount Trophy
- October 31: Recluse’s Flask Mount Trophy
- November 1: Reclusive Trappings Mount Armor
If you don’t pick one of these up on the day it comes out, it will still be there in the Diablo 4 shop until November 5, 2024. You will find them under the free items section of the shop, as with any gifts. However, the real winner of this event is Trick or Meat. Sure, cosmetics are neat, but this brings Trick or Treating to Sanctuary.
The Butcher, everyone’s favorite monstrosity, invites players to go to dungeons across Sanctuary. Any time you see a Shrine in a dungeon, and interact with it, you have a chance to see a surprise effect trigger alongside the normal condition the Shrine gives you.
We have no idea what these could be, but it sounds like you could be given riches - gold, perhaps amazing loot. However, you could also get something very bad. Blizzard’s post for this event teased a Butcher that had a fancy upgraded cleaver and a crown of demonic horns, perhaps similar to what you might find on Diablo or Lilith.
It sounds like the worst thing you could see is this new, demonic Butcher showing up and smashing through you and anyone else that could be in your party. We’ll just have to see for ourselves what awaits us when this event begins, but it’s an exciting, chaotic idea for sure.
As you’re exploring the new dungeons and content from Vessel of Hatred, you might see some truly terrifying surprises pop up. Any dungeon, Nightmare or Normal, that has a Shrine in it, could be affected by this event.
