Diablo 4 has introduced some fantastic features over the past few years, but one Season 4 feature has more or less fallen completely by the wayside. Back in Season 4: Loot Reborn, one of my favorite features that made picking up crafting materials and currency so much faster was added. However, it has since remained without any further updates.
Pets were introduced in Diablo 4 Season 4, and other than a few of them — which you could get by pre-ordering Vessel of Hatred — they have remained completely forgotten. This is something other players have taken note of recently, with some level of confusion.

Diablo 4 has been ignoring the pets feature for months
Pets gave Diablo 4 players the ability to pick up currencies and other handy items as they played the game without driving their focus towards doing these tasks. You could spend more time looking through piles of gear and let your animal friend gather up the gold, ore, and herbs. It was a great idea and a nice little quality-of-life feature.
Redditor Metty197 recently took to the internet, completely confused about why the feature hasn't been getting more attention. According to them, there’s a lot that Blizzard can do with pets, even if it is just offering some cosmetic alternatives that players can farm, unlock, or spend money on.
One Redditor offered a suggestion that I think would be an incredible asset and will probably get more people grinding: Offer a cosmetic pet in each season pass that fits the aesthetic of that particular pass. Perhaps the strangest thing about all of this is that we haven’t seen any in the real-money shop.
In the customization screen of Diablo 4 (Wardrobe), you can select your pet, among other items. The title also a tab that reads “Find more pets in the shop,” which is not something you can do right now. We’ve talked about microtransactions in D4 in the past — whether they're something the developers made a lot of money from or presented egregious, expensive mounts through.
With that in mind, it’s baffling that there haven’t been pets in the cash shop. Not that I condone the prices of cosmetics in D4, but the feature is not even something they’ve taken advantage of yet. This is what something players hope changes in the future, whether through the season pass or some other method.
Whether it’s through improving the pets feature in D4 by giving them custom emotes or letting them do unique things, simply having more of them available would be a nice start.
