Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred: Tenets of Depravity guide

After defeating the final boss in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred, an important side quest will be Tenets of Depravity. It is one of the requirements in the lengthy post-game quest chain, Deeds of a Champion. Your final reward for completing this quest chain is a set of gear with the Baleful Intent suffix. As such, anyone who wants a great, free cosmetic, should invest their time in this.

However, you can’t start Deeds of a Champion until Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred expansion begins and you complete Act 7. With that in mind, if you want extra exp and to complete a late-game side quest, here’s what you need to know about Tenets of Depravity.

1) Unlocking the quest - Tenets of Depravity: Sacrament of the Faithless in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred

Once you’ve begun the Deeds of a Champion main quest in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred, you can start Tenets of Depravity. However, it’s not always clear where you’ll find this quest, as it doesn't appear on the map.

The first step of the quest, Sacrament of the Faithless, kicks off in Kurast. Head to the northwestern corner of Upper Kurast, as seen in the screenshot above, and speak to the NPCs.

After a cutscene, you’ll be tasked with finding Faith’s Torch, one of the Burned Knight Camps in the Seven Stones region of Nahantu. The game will give you a circular section of the map to look through for this camp.

Fortunately, the area isn’t large. You’ll find the camp in the northernmost section of the map. Take a set of steps down into this camp, and another cutscene will play before you move on with Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred.

Speak with Priest Dmitriy. You’ll also have to slay a Knight after the cutscene ends. Once the cutscene wraps up, give it a second — we walked away and then the Berserk Knight spawned. Once you've beaten this entity, the next step is to pick up the Account of Captain Kharov’s Madness, a book you can find nearby.

The next place you need to visit in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred’s Tenets of Depravity is Kehjistan’s Gea Kul, for a Cathedral of Light authority. The location is marked in the screenshot above. A Knight will stop you, but you’ll be let through by Prava herself. After a brief chat with the latter, you’ll get the next section of this side quest.

2) Tenets of Depravity - An End to Suffering

Go back to Faith’s Torch in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred. After you interact with a corpse here, the Knight Command Quarter will open up, and you’ll hear some grim screaming. Enter this area to investigate.

This part is gruesome. A person is burned alive, and you’ll have to defeat a few Burned Knights before hearing the victim's last words: "Priest Dmitriy." One of the NPCs will tell you to head to the Seared Revelation Camp and speak to Marzhan, who knows how to reach Kharov.

3) Tenets of Depravity: Companion to Madness

The next step is to find the nearby Seared Revelation Camp in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred. The location of the camp is displayed in the screenshot above. Speak with Marzhan the Scribe, and he’ll charge you with a task, where you'll need to head down to the nearby arena and kill the warriors that spawn in it.

The enemies are easy to defeat, so don’t sweat it. Thereafter, you’ll be granted access to Kharov’s base. This will lead you to the next area in this quest, Temple of the Profane.

4) Tenets of Depravity: Scion of Blasphemies

For this step of Tenets of Depravity in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred, you must head into the Temple of the Profane properly, as displayed in the screenshot above. Seek out NPCs in this temple, slay them, and claim their Condemned Trophy.

This is how you progress through the dungeon. Since we’re not 100% certain if this dungeon is random each time you go in, we recommend exploring and slaughtering all enemies you come across inside it. When you’re close to the target officers, you’ll see it on the mini-map. The first is Pharus, and after opening the gate, you must survive the Chamber of Slaughter.

The Chamber of Slaughter is rough and will feature waves of powerful enemies. Once you’ve survived it, you can move on, seeking Grigoriy for his Condemned Trophy. It won’t take much effort to find them, as the layout of the temple is not complex. Defeat the so-called “Master of Blades” and move on to another Chamber of Slaughter.

Once you've passed through the place, your goal is to enter the Hall of the Unworthy in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred. Bring one more Condemned Trophy into the next area, Vault of the Demigod. You’ll fight Captain Kharov here. Since this is a Burned Knight, expect tons of fiery AoE attacks.

This foe went down quickly to my Centipede-using Spiritborn. Success will net you a pile of exp, gold, and Mobols. One of these Legendaries appears to be a standard drop, the Reaper’s Elder Polearm.
