Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred The Keening Spirit quest guide and walkthrough

Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred’s The Keening Spirit quest is an Upper Kurast side quest that has frustrated players since the expansion’s launch. Many have worried that it’s bugged since the Spirit doesn’t show up right away, once you’ve reached the appropriate part of the jungle. Additionally, it gives players a pretty large portion of the nearby jungle to search, so progress can feel stifling if you don’t know what to do and where to go.

Thankfully, The Keening Spirit is not a Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred Season 6 quest - but you do need to own the expansion to complete it. Like the Spiritborn, this is locked to the Nahantu region, so if you don’t have the Vessel of Hatred DLC, you won’t find this quest either way. If you’re stumped, here’s how to solve this quest.

How to complete The Keening Spirit in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred

You can pick up The Keening Spirit in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred once you have access to Kurast Bazaar/Upper Kurast. If you’re like me and skipped most of the side quests, you can grab this one by teleporting to the Kurast Bazaar and riding to the southwest section of Upper Kurast. You’ll see a blue exclamation mark, and if you interact with that NPC, the side quest begins.

A nearby section of the jungle will be highlighted in a blue circle, and somewhere in it, you must find the distressed spirit Bashe. This is what’s confusing people - the spirit doesn’t always appear right away. What you need to do is head to the northernmost section of the search area, which you can see above.

Defeat the enemies in this area, and the Spirit will appear for you to interact with. However, if you’re not seeing the spirit show up in the above area, it’s likely because you haven’t completed the main campaign for Vessel of Hatred yet.

For some reason, you can pick this quest up early, but you cannot complete it until you finish the main story. There is an overwhelming amount of players saying this quest is bugged, and while that could be the case, others have reported that going back after the main campaign will allow you to wrap up The Keening Spirit in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred.

Once you do this, return to the above area, and defeat the Hollows to wrap this quest up. You’ll receive a pile of crafting reagents, XP, gold, and Renown in this region for completing a side quest. If you come back after the main campaign and still cannot complete this quest, it is most certainly bugged for you, and you must likely wait until Blizzard patches it.
