Once Human has PvP multiplayer opportunities, but you are not forced to engage them if you're more of a PvE player. Thankfully, it’s not so simple as just logging into the game, griefing players, and looting their items. The developers have taken great care to make certain players will be able to pick and choose how they take part in this kind of system, as they understand that not everybody is looking for that same kind of intense gameplay experience.
Once Human launches on July 9, 2024, and with it will come a pair of server types - PVP and PVE. Regardless of which server you’re on, you can attack other players and their structures, but there are some limits. The following is what you need to know going into this survival MMO.
What PVP multiplayer options are available in Once Human?
Once Human will have PVP multiplayer if you choose to participate. If you want to PVP, you have to enter the “Chaos State,” making you a “Chaos Player.” This is done on a PC by holding down the P button or by engaging in certain aggressive actions. This will remain the same when the game launches on mobile devices at a later date.
Whether you’re on the PVP or PVE servers in Once Human, players will be able to attack one another, but there is a bit of a catch to it. If you’re on the player-vs.-player servers, you will be able to attack any player, provided they are level 10 or higher. At that point, they’re fair game, and it doesn’t matter if they’re in a Chaos state.

When it comes to the PVE servers, PVP works just a little differently in Once Human. There are Contested Areas on the map, where, if you’re in these, you will be forced to PVP to survive. However, you don’t have to go to these spots on the map, if you don’t want to. If you don’t activate a Chaos state on PVE servers, you cannot be attacked by other players.
Taking part in hostile actions on other players increases the Chaos state, and once the Chaos state reaches 0, they will no longer be hostile on PVE servers. This gives players free reign to decide when they want to be aggressive, and when not to be.

In addition, Once Human PVPers cannot group with PVE players. If you’re in a party of casual players and enter the Chaos State, then you’ll be removed from the party. However, you can party with other Chaos Players if a group comes together and are all in the PVP state, they will remain that way until the party disbands. This feature will be ready when Once Human releases.
