The First Descendant is an online-exclusive looter-shooter experience, allowing up to four players to partake in co-op sessions to fight the Vulgus threat. This means players will expect robust crossplay and cross-progression elements to ensure they can play where and with whoever they desire. Thankfully, the game offers both features.

This guide will explore everything players need to know about crossplay and cross-progression in The First Descendant.

crossplay is a big part of the game and allows users across all platforms to play with one another - that includes PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S systems. Crossplay is a feature that is enabled by default so if PC players are playing with randoms, it will not be uncommon to see console players also join in during fights and missions.

Furthermore, crossplay will also allow players to team up with their friends via the in-game Social tab, so they do not have to take on challenges alone if that's what they desire. With the game's entry barrier being free, anyone can simply download the game and start playing with their friends. Now when it comes to cross-progression there are some extra steps to consider.

As mentioned previously, cross-progression is also a thing in the game. This essentially allows players to take their save file between platforms; given this is a grind-heavy looter shooter, no player would want to start over from scratch and lose all their rare loot.

Unlike crossplay, cross-progression requires account linking to work. So, yes, players will need to create a Nexon account to link to proceed with this. Here are the steps:

  1. Visit the official Nexon account linking site OR while in-game, head to Options > Account > Link Account.
  2. Create a Nexon ID and link select the platform to be linked to (Steam, PlayStation, or Xbox).
  3. Log in and authorize the link process.
  4. Once complete, head in-game again under Options > Account to check that the account linking process is successful.

With that done, players can download the game and play on any other platform, and their progress will carry over.
