That said, with Arrakis being a desert, coming across Armor Plating is not going to be easy, and yet, the task at hand is not impossible. There are a few ways to get this crafting resource in Dune Awakening.

How to get Armor Plating Dune Awakening

There are three ways to get Armor Plating in Dune Awakening: Salvaging, looting, and outright purchasing it from vendors. Each method is reliable, and you choose whichever suits you best.

Salvaging

Ever so often, you'll come across wreckage while exploring the sands of Arrakis. It's unclear what happened to the occupants, but I'm sure they won't mind if you salvage what's left of it. Using a Cutteray, you will be able to break down the wreck and salvage resources from it in the process. Not all wreckage or scrap will contain Armor Plating, but it's a good place to start.

Note that only wreckages of buggies drop Amor Plating - Ornithaptor wrecks drop Holtzmann Actuators instead.

Looting

On Arrakis, finders get to be keepers. If you manage to liberate an outpost (by which I mean kill everyone alive), you'll be able to loot whatever is lying around.

Specifically, Armor Plating is almost always dropped by scavengers with heavy machine-guns. This enemy archetype starts popping up in Vermillius Gap, and become more frequent in later areas. These bullet-hoses can put out a lot of damage, so make sure you are prepared before you confront them - especially if they'e the shielded variant.

Clearing out bases and outposts as you go is the best way, as you can also stumble across Unique schematics as a byproduct.

Buying from Vendors and the Player-Run Exchange

If looting, shooting, and scavenging under the desert Sun is not quite your preference, you can always purchase Armor Plating. If you have Solari to spare, you can purchase this resource from Vendors across settlements.

You can also try your luck on the Player-Run Exchange to see if someone has listed them due to surplus supply. You'll likely run into trainers while looking for Vendors, which will be a win-win situation.

There's no drawback to any method, as initially, you will have to salvage and scavenge for crafting material. There's no shame in it, and it will be worth your time and effort. As you progress and make some Solari, you can just use it to buy what you need outright.
