The Invocator is arguably the strongest build for beginners in Throne and Liberty. Combining the damage potential of staff skills with team-wide bonuses from Wand & Tome, the Invocator enjoys a comfortable time throughout the leveling phase and well into the endgame. The build has a hybridized damage profile that allows players to engage as a mobile sentry while inflicting damage over time ticks and strong direct hits.
The Invocator is an exceptional build for beginners thanks to several sources of healing and strong resource sustain passives. This setup lets players safely traverse the campaign while chasing stronger gear from early-game Dimensional Circle dungeons. Moving into the endgame isn't difficult, as the campaign Codex rewards allow players to comfortably farm Co-op dungeons and open-world content for their best-in-slot gear.
This guide will provide a basic build template for the Invocator, with details regarding skill selection, specialization, mastery, gear, and more.

Why the Staff and Wand Invocator is the easiest build in Throne and Liberty
Like most other MMOs, builds in Throne and Liberty follow the holy trinity of classes. Players can choose to be DPS, Tank, or Healer. However, Throne and Liberty's weapon-based class hybridization allows players to specialize in another role, with reduced efficacy.
It is rather contentious to say that a class is objectively the best or worst. However, the suite of active and passive skills available to Staff and Wand makes it by far the easiest build to scale from the early game and well into the endgame. Players get access to high-damage Staff skills, and some of the strongest AoE and single-target healing skills from the Wand & Tome skill selection.
Wand and Tome also provide two strong defensive boons in the form of defense stat boosts and team-wide shields. The weapon doesn't lack damage either, as DoT sources like Touch of Despair and Corrupted Magic Circle provide adequate and continuous pressure.
With a diverse set of active skills and strong passives focusing on resource sustain, the Invocator is one of the best early-game builds, if not the best. The build is tailor-made for people who want to scale easily into the endgame, without making many changes to their skill toolbar and keeping the gearing simple.

Active Skills
The Invocator is a heal-DPS hybrid class with multiple strong skills to keep it ahead of enemy pressure. Swift Healing and Clay's Salvation are sufficient to see through the campaign, while Serial Fire Bombs can comfortably take care of early-game enemies. Judgment Lightning, Fireball Barrage, and Inferno Wave can handle single-target and AoE combat situations in late-game zones and dungeons.
Here is a list of Active Skills that should take priority for upgrading:
- Serial Fire Bombs
- Swift Healing
- Chain Lightning
- Clay's Salvation
- Judgement Lightning
- High Focus
- Invincible Wall
- Inferno Wave
- Fireball Barrage
- Touch of Despair
- Corrupted Magic Circle
- Time for Punishment
- Fountain of Life
While the list seems big for a comprehensive guide, this is merely an outline of the standard progression through the campaign. If players require more damage, they should upgrade Chain Lightning and Judgement Lightning before Clay's Salvation. Likewise, if players are with an organized group, their ideal upgrade path should be toward Touch of Despair, Time for Punishment, and Invincible Wall.
Passives
Like with other Throne and Liberty builds, the Invocator has a sleuth of passives to assist in increasing damage and resource sustain as well as aiding in support and survivability.
The Passive skill priority list is as follows:
- Selfless Soul
- Devotion and Emptiness
- Full of Corruption
- Saint's Oath
- Mana Amp
- Forbidden Sanctuary
- Noble Revival
- Vampiric Contract
- Flame Condensation
Skill Specialization
The skill specialization feature in Throne and Liberty allows players to customize each active skill's functionality. This can include causing abilities to be imbued with certain elements, changing single-target skills into AoE zones, or targeting multiple enemies.
For leveling, we recommend investing in the following specializations:
- Serial Fire Bombs: Instant Casting > Mobility > Radius Increased
- Chain Lightning: Damage Transfer (Without Status Chance) > Damage Transfer (No Damage Reduction)
- High Focus: Base Damage Boost
- Inferno Wave: Consecutive Use > Cooldown Reduction
- Swift Healing: Healing Transfer > Consecutive Use
- Fountain of Life: Mana Recovery > Radius Increased > Effect Duration Increased
- Judgement Lightning: Consecutive Use
- Fireball Barrage: Cooldown Reduction > Fireball Frenzy
Starting from level 15, players will accumulate 100 specialization points when they reach level 50. The specializations written here will likely consume more than 100 points, so we suggest taking nodes that help your build or situation.
Weapon Mastery
Weapons can gain certain passive benefits via the Weapon Mastery system in Throne and Liberty, allowing players to customize their builds into specific playstyles. For example, Wand's Weapon Mastery nodes provide passives for Mana Efficiency for skills and healing bonuses, while Staff's Mastery provides increased Skill damage and Cooldown Reduction for skills.
Players obtain very few Mastery points during the leveling process and these nodes will be respecced upon reaching level 50. We suggest investing in the following six nodes during leveling:
Wand: Pure Healing > Spiritual Focus > Witch's Contract
Staff: Radiant Composure > Fatal Incantation > Mana Intensification
Gear Progression
The campaign gear progression doesn't differ from most caster builds. Players can take a path similar to the Longbow / Staff PvP build, switching out the Longbow-specific upgrades for a full caster playstyle. To keep it simple, here are the items you should pick up from the Campaign Completion Codex rewards:
- Arcane Staff: Chapter 1
- Rutaine's Ring of Wonder: Chapter 4
- Staff of the Resistance: Chapter 5
- Mask of the Resistance: Chapter 6
- Handguards of the Resistance: Chapter 7
- Trousers of the Resistance/ Pants of the Resistance: Chapter 8
- Glade Stalker Boots: Chapter 9
- Heroic Tunic of the Resistance: Chapter 10
Throughout Chapter 2 and Chapter 3, players will need some Green-tier gear to overcome the oncoming pressure. Therefore, they should craft some gear and replace the common gear obtained from the start. Here are the recommended gear pieces to get you over the power curve:
- Divine Rod
- Mantle of Casting
- Layered Iron Helm
- Intricate Leather Tunic
- Ironclad Plate Gauntlets
- Blackened Plate Greaves
- Blackened Plate Sabatons
- Belt of Meditation
- Ring of Robustness
- Bracelet of Conquest
- Ring of Precision
- Necklace of Foresight
Players should ideally level up all their Green-tier gear to Level 6 and feed those to their eventual Blue-tier gear to preserve half of the upgrade progress. This is the best and most cost-efficient method to upgrade novel gear and empower higher-tier items.
Best Stats for the Invocator build in Throne and Liberty
Stat points in Throne and Liberty significantly boost a build's damage and defenses. Players will naturally obtain 49 points on their way to level 50. These points can be distributed in any fashion but the easiest distribution will be 20+20+9.
During leveling, players can safely distribute the first 20 points in Wisdom. The following 20 points can be deposited in Dexterity and the last 9 in Perception.
Upon reaching the endgame, the stat distribution will likely remain the same, with extra points coming from gear. In the endgame, the aim is to obtain 50 Dexterity and Wisdom for the milestone boosts. With higher investments, players can aim for 50 Wisdom for additional cooldown reduction.
Best endgame setup for Throne and Liberty Invocator build
Gear upgrades for builds in Throne and Liberty are pretty straightforward. Players will most likely obtain their mid-game upgrades from running Co-op Dimensional Circle and Abyssal open-world dungeons. The safest dungeons to run are Butcher's Canyon and Cave of Destruction. As for the Abyssal dungeons, camping Ant Nest and Shadowed Crypt are the best choices.
During midgame, players should aim for the Elusive Hexweaver Hat and Alacritous Invoker Shoes to boost stat gains and resource sustain. One of the earliest upgrades that will carry over to the endgame is the Violent Signet. This ring can either be an RNG drop from running Cursed Wasteland. The other method is via the Lithograph Book, with varying odds of success for the traits.
The endgame upgrades can be different based on your drop luck and situation. The first item players should aim for is the Abyssal Grace Band and Sapphire Dimensional Band. These two rings massively increase overall DPS and long-term resource sustainability. The next upgrade is to obtain two gear sets, with Ascended Guardian and Shadow Harvester being the best choices.
Ascended Guardian's two-piece bonus is a flat 7.5% Cooldown reduction and Shadow Harvester provides a 14% Critical Damage Boost. The Belt of choice is Butcher's Belt, but a Belt of Endless Slaughter can also work wonders. Bracers of the Primal King and Clasp of the Conqueror are still the best-in-slot for any DPS build, while Supreme Devotion is the cape of choice for almost every Throne and Liberty build.
