A major patch is coming to Elder Scrolls Online in the form of Update 45. Some truly fantastic content is coming; from reworks to PVP updates, there’s a lot to be excited about. However, it’s worth noting that this may not be everything coming to the game. We’ll need to wait until further updates, or the official patch notes hit at a later time.
It’s unlikely we’ll see this in January, but it’s not too late to pick up your login rewards. However, if you’re curious about the major changes dropping in Update 45 in Elder Scrolls Online, here’s what you can expect.
Everything we know about Update 45 in Elder Scrolls Online
The first major change in Update 45 of Elder Scrolls Online is the Cyrodiil Champions Test Campaign. This is a test series for the PVP Campaign, and players will be locked to specific class builds, including abilities, stats, and their items. The reason behind this is to gather data, and see how the system handles simplified abilities.
Players will have access to seven Cyrodiil Champion classes, and everyone will have the same power levels. That means everyone will be on equal footing, and skill will be the most important thing. You also won’t be able to access things like Crown Store provisions, and items not included in the class templates.
This keeps everything nice and even. This is reportedly just the beginning of the testing of the Cyrodiil Champions campaigns, it will be more fleshed out in the future. It should be interesting to see what data they take away from this Elder Scrolls Online test in Update 45.
Another major change is the Starter Zone Refresh. The zones of Betnikh, Stros M’kai, Bleakrock, Bal Foyen, and Khenarthi’s Roost have all been completely reworked, receiving visual updates and much more. The idea was to make them visually more in-line with modern updates and zones, such as the Telvanni Peninsula.
It’s not just cosmetic, though the lighting, atmosphere, terrain transitions and materials are certainly nice. Signs and banners were repositioned to make them easier to spot, and lighting will define important paths and similar things.
Finally, there were some Quality of Life changes confirmed for Elder Scrolls Online Update 45. This includes giving mounts an increased movement speed at the start without increasing top end speed, and specific Craft (green) Champion stars were reworked, so you don’t need to have them slotted to benefit from them.
Finally, the Mundus Stone Boons have increased visibility, and a reminder so you know when/where to find them in-game, which is a great addition. The Elder Scrolls Update 45 will also come alongside a DLC drop — two new four-player dungeons.
Exiled Redoubt has Imperial Battlemage Lucilla requesting your help to find disappearing soldiers, as you explore the House Albus stronghold. Lep Seclusa is the Most Priest sanctuary, and it’s currently under siege - the Elder Scroll housed there is at risk, and you need to prevent Orpheon the Tactician from claiming it. There is no release date for this Elder Scrolls Online content at this time, but once we know, we’ll keep you in the loop.
