Diablo 4 Season 7 is on the way, and Elon Musk hasn’t forgotten about it, despite investing a great deal of his time into Path of Exile 2. While discussing the game on X.com, the richest man in the world tagged the GM of everything Diablo-related at Blizzard Entertainment, Rod Fergusson. It’s unknown how serious Elon was about actually getting another PTR, much less if Blizzard has the resources or time to set one up.
Elon Musk is no stranger to Diablo 4, having cleared a sub-2-minute run for Pit of Artificers Level 150, according to a post he made on X. Many fans agree that they’d like to see more of Season 7 ahead of launch — this could be a way to make some final tweaks based on community feedback.
Elon Musk wants another Season 7 PTR for Diablo 4 ahead of the official season start
The request for Rod Fergusson to set up a Diablo 4 Season 7 PTR came from Elon Musk responding to a post made by @Rob_2628 on X. The Diablo and Path of Exile content creator was highlighting the hard work players made by defeating 40M Treasure Goblins to grant everyone in the game a free Resplendent Spark for Mythic Unique crafting.
One of the many responses was from Elon Musk himself, asking for a Diablo 4 Season 7 PTR from Rod Fergusson. However, his post didn’t have much to do with Rob’s, other than being about D4 itself. The CEO of Tesla Motors highlighted the success of Path of Exile 2’s Early Access, while also hoping the next season of Diablo will be great:
“When I look at ‘days since last played’ for my friends in Diablo, most haven’t played at all since PoE came out. I hope the next season is great. WOuld be cool if @Diablo did another PTR before Jan 20. (Paging @RodFergusson...)”
It’s likely not an uncommon thing to see players temporarily drop D4 for Path of Exile 2 — I’m just as guilty of that, having obsessed over Path of Exile 2 since and before its official launch. We still don’t have an official release date for Diablo 4 Season 7, so it’s not really too late to set up a PTR. However, it’s unknown if Rod Fergusson will acquiesce to Elon Musk’s request.
While PoE 2’s numbers have fallen a little bit since Early Access began, it’s still regularly seeing over 300K players, with 197K logged in at the time of writing. Season 7 of D4 is very promising, though. The Witch Powers look like they’ll be a lot of fun, but the Blizzard-created Action RPG has a ways to go if it wants to compete with Path of Exile 2.
