The Grappling Hook in Enshrouded is one of the most vital and fun parts in-game. This handy little traversal gadget will help you explore the open terrain with ease. Furthermore, with the release of the Souls of the Frozen Frontier update, you can now even use the Hook as a combat weapon.

In this guide, we have shared everything about getting and upgrading the Grappling Hook in Enshrouded.

How to get the Basic Grappling Hook in Enshrouded

To craft the basic Grappling Hook, you’ll first need to create a Workbench. Begin by gathering resources to craft a Flame Altar, which requires five Stone. Next, craft the Workbench using three String and eight Wood Logs. String can be made from three Plant Fibers each, meaning you’ll need 21 Plant Fibers in total for the seven Strings required later. You can get Wood Logs easily by cutting down trees.

Once the Workbench is placed, gather the materials for the Grappling Hook. You’ll need four Metal Scraps, seven Strings, and 10 Shroud Spores. Metal Scraps can be scavenged from abandoned towns and villages, often found among debris. Shroud Spores, on the other hand, are dropped by enemies you find in Shroud-affected areas. Once you collect the Spores for the first time, the recipe will unlock on your Workbench.

With these materials in hand, interact with the Workbench, navigate to the Survival section, and select the Grappling Hook recipe. Once done, equip the Grappling Hook in the designated slot to enable its use.

Once done, you will need to get the improved Grappling Hook plans. For that, you must follow the Alchemist’s questline. Begin by taking on the quest Investigate the Troubling Rumors quest, which directs you to the Hill of Scavengers in the Springlands. At the Hill of Scavengers, you’ll face the Scavenger Matron boss. Defeating the boss rewards you with the recipe for the Improved Grappling Hook.

After acquiring the recipe, return to the Carpenter at your base to unlock the crafting menu for the Improved Grappling Hook in Enshrouded. The materials required for crafting include one Shroud Core, two Shroud Liquid, three Shroud Spores, and one Grappling Hook. Ensure the basic Grappling Hook is unequipped from your Character screen before starting the crafting process, as it will be used in the recipe.

Using the Grappling Hook is straightforward. First, locate grapple points in the environment. These points will display an interaction prompt when you’re within range. There are two types of grapple points: Pull Anchors, which pull you directly to the point, and Swing Anchors, which allow you to swing across gaps or obstacles.

To activate the Grappling Hook in Enshrouded, press the interact button (E or Y by default) when near a grapple point.
