Wasteland War is the third and final update to ARK Bob's Tall Tales, a paid DLC you must buy after or alongside ARK Survival Ascended. Much like the previous updates, this one is packed to the brim with some game-changing content, including a pet dog, monster trucks, and what one could call Mad Man-esque furniture.
Similar to the Steampunk Ascent, this third update to ARK Bob's Tall Tales has tie-ins with new systems added to the base game, further cementing its pay-to-win nature. Specifically, Wasteland Wars comes with access to the Makeshift Megalab workbench, which lets you tinker with the new Weapon Traits system that shipped with the Extinction map.
Do you have to purchase ARK Bob's Tall Tales Wasteland Wars separately?
Wasteland Wars is not a new standalone DLC but rather an update to ARK Bob's Tall Tales. All those who previously owned Bob's Tall Tales will receive all of its perks and benefits as a free upgrade, the same as the Steampunk Ascent update a few months earlier.
If you only own the ARK Survival Ascended base game, though, you'll have to buy Bob's Tall Tales for $29.99 (pricing may vary based on platform and region). However, note that the assets of this DLC are loaded into the game regardless of DLC ownership, so you can enjoy some of its content if your co-op buddy has it and hosts the game.
Everything you can get from Bob's Tall Tales Part 3 Wasteland Wars in ASA
The biggest headliner feature of this wasteland-themed DLC is the monster trucks, bundled into a system called Battle Rigs. With the DLC, you can build as many Battle Rig garages as you want, each capable of crafting your very own custom-made Battle Rig from modular parts.
These hardy offroading vehicles are great for traversing the ruthless lands of Extinction and are also a token of self-expression with over 10,000 possible variations between color and rig combinations.
For other players, the most important thing may be the poster boy of the update, the Armadoggo. This creature is more than just a pet — it can dig for treasure, fetch items, and protect you, with powerful armor attachments to further enhance its abilities.
2 new weapons
Here are the two new weapons, as detailed on the game's Steam page:
- Explosive Spear: Stick it to your enemies! This devastating weapon combines brutal melee combat with explosive power, detonating for maximum carnage.
- Extinguisher Grenade: Douse the flames of combat and snuff out your enemy’s ambition! This unique grenade releases a cloud of fire-suppressing gas, instantly extinguishing fires to give you the upper hand.
6 new tools and structures
While the Makeshift Megalab will be of particular interest to get the most out of the new weapon traits system, there are five other functional structures to construct. With this update, Bob's Tall Tales owners get:
- Bladewasp Hive: Keep the skies clear! This organic turret unleashes defensive swarms to defend your base, deterring pesky creatures and bringing down even the mightiest flyers.
- Bio-Grinder: Maximize your dino gains! This massive structure extracts every last resource from organic fodder, biodegrading it into valuable kibble and raw materials.
- Lights & Lamps: Light up the night! Survive in style with a range of rugged, flame-powered lights and fires for your Wasteland base.
- Makeshift Megalab: The pinnacle of scientific achievement! Unlock the secrets of advanced crafting in this state-of-the-art laboratory.
- Tribe Tower: Unite your tribe, construct this awe-inspiring monument, and defend it to secure your place among the ARK elite.
- Battle Rig Garage: The aforementioned workstation for the Battle Rig system.
