Megamaguey Pineapples are a useful crafting material in Final Fantasy 14, but they can be frightfully hard to farm. It’s not down to the challenge of the enemy that holds them, but the droprate at which they fall - it’s not good. Occasionally, you’ll see 3 drop at once, but for the most part, you’ll be lucky if even one falls from the Megamaguey mobs. We’ll show you where these enemies spawn, but there’s a better way to get them.
As long as you’ve reached the point in the Main Story Quest of Final Fantasy 14 that takes you to Urqopacha, you can farm Megamaguey Pineapples. Here’s what you need to know about unlocking this useful crafting item.
How to find farm Megamaguey Pineapple in Final Fantasy 14
If you look at the map above, you’ll see the primary route where you can farm Megamaguey mobs for Megamaguey Pineapples in Final Fantasy 14. You need to be at least level 91 with any of the combat jobs, but for my money, Pictomancer was the best. You can easily smash through them with its many combat powers. They do have a fairly large AOE attack, so keep an eye out for that.
Other than that, especially as a ranged combat class, they’re relatively harmless. I did my grinding at level 100 on Pictomancer, but honestly, farming the mobs is frustrating. Sometimes you’ll see 3 drop at a time, but more often than not you’ll be lucky if even 1 drops. It’s all down to RNG.
Instead, there are two other methods, depending on what you need them for. If you’re using them for crafting, you can simply buy them off the Market Board from other players. That can get expensive, though. Whether crafting or making money off of them, the best, easiest way to get Megamaguey Pineapples in Final Fantasy 14 is to spend bi-color gemstones.
They only cost 3 bi-color gemstones a piece down in Wachunpelo. It’s easy to get bi-color gemstones as well: grind FATES! You’ll have 1500 bi-color gemstones in no time, and you can spend as many as you need on Megamaguey Pineapples in FF14.
What are Megamaguey Pineapples used for in Final Fantasy 14?
This crafting material has one purpose - making Cooking Mezcal. You then use the Mezcal in other, more important, high-level recipes throughout Dawntrail. These recipes sell for a decent amount on the Market Board and also bring solid stats all around. That, or you can use the Cooking Mezcal in Collectible Recipes (Rarefied Boiled Alpaca Steak, Rarefied Salmon Jerky).
