Final Fantasy 14 patch 7.1 was revealed during the Tokyo Game Show 2024, alongside the exciting new “Chaotic Alliance Raids.” While some players have been awaiting new content in FF14, others have waited longer than Alliance raid fans. If you’ve wanted to battle some of the classic bosses with a little more thrill and danger, that’s exactly what you’re going to get with the forthcoming update. If that wasn't enough, Yoshi-P has hinted at some special rewards.
Patch 7.1 of Final Fantasy 14 is scheduled to drop in mid-November, offering more content now that Dawntrail has kicked off - including Chaotic Alliance Raids. It appears we're only getting one of these with patch 7.1, but if it’s popular, more could be expected. Here’s what’s on the way.
Final Fantasy 14 patch 7.1 adds Chaotic Alliance Raids, giving the content a “Savage” difficulty
Chaotic Alliance Raids in Final Fantasy 14 are, according to Yoshi-P, more aligned with “Savage” difficulty of trials. The only one we’re aware of right now is World of Darkness. Thankfully, you won’t have to grind through the entire Alliance Raid on that difficulty. This new Alliance Raid type drops all 24 players down into the final boss fight.
While it would be interesting to take on more bosses in this new, challenging way, having one impressive, chaotic fight probably allows the developers to put together something special, such as more damage or health, instead of it just being harder.
This version of World of Darkness promises to be much more difficult than the original. We haven’t seen it in action, but have viewed some screenshots. One of them is a giant, maze-like damage pattern that looks like a hashtag. There's also a scene that looks similar but is perhaps even more challenging.
The image we used at the top shows the Cloud of Darkness boss in the center of the stage, and several meteor patterns forming. They have one or two spheres of fire around them, likely indicating that they drop in groups. Thus, players must time where they stand and when.
Patch 7.1 promises to be a huge update for the game. In addition to Chaotic Alliance Raids, Final Fantasy 14 will also have new quests, more Hildibrand adventures, and a new dungeon. The patch does not have an official release date but is expected in mid-November 2024.
