The Punutiy mount is one of Final Fantasy XIV’s more interesting mounts, and it was introduced as a part of the new content in the 7.1 update. While it will take some work to unlock, it’s not random, and won’t require you to spend time grinding through trials or anything. You just have to have enough reputation and currency to unlock it.
At this point, you won’t be able to unlock it - not unless you’ve spent quite a long time doing the daily quests for one of the new factions. If you’ve ever wanted to fly around on a giant, glistening manatee, the Punutiy mount is for you, and thanks to the Crossroads update, you can begin unlocking it immediately.
Where to unlock the Punutiy mount in Final Fantasy XIV
To unlock the Punutiy mount in Final Fantasy XIV, you have to reach the Respected rank with the Pelupelu. Interestingly enough, they’ve made grinding for this mount much faster than normal. Instead of having to get to a rank like Bloodsworn (Rank 7), all you need to do is reach Respected this time. It’s made even easier since you start at Friendly (Rank 3).
To get this as fast as possible, do your dailies with the Pelupelu for a week, and you should have more than enough Pelupelu Plumes - you need 18 Pelupelu Plumes to purchase this mount from the vendor at Dock Poga.
If you haven’t unlocked the Pelupelu Allied Society Quests, we’ve covered that as well. Head to Tuliyollal as a level 90+ combat class, speak to the Blue-garbed Pelu at (13.6, 12.9), and begin the quest An Intrepid New Enterprise. This won’t take long to complete.
Once you're done with the quest, head back daily and do the 3 quests you’re allotted. If you rank up, you can do an extra 3, making it even faster. I don’t recommend purchasing anything with the Pelupelu Plumes until you’ve got 18 and have bought the mount. That way, you don’t have to wait any longer than you’d have to.
As you can see in the screenshot, I still have a ways to go before I unlock mine, but a few more days of dailies and I’ll have the Punutiy mount in Final Fantasy XIV. All it takes is diligence. The daily quests for this faction are quite easy, and it’s an amazing way to farm up exp for your combat classes between levels 90 and 100.
