Final Fantasy XIV: How to unlock World of Darkness Chaotic Raid

Final Fantasy XIV’s latest raid, World of Darkness Chaotic, is officially here. Unlocking on December 24, 2024, it is an updated version of the original Cloud of Darkness boss battle. The battle itself is an interesting one, and thankfully, unlocking this updated version isn't too complicated. Most players have fought the original boss before, as World of Darkness is arguably one of the more common raids given in the Duty Finder.

Now that patch 7.15 is here, and the requisite two weeks have passed, Final Fantasy XIV players can tackle the incredible new Alliance Raid, World of Darkness Chaotic. If you don’t know where this unlocks, we’re here to help.

How and where to unlock the World of Darkness Chaotic Raid in Final Fantasy XIV

To even tackle the World of Darkness Chaotic raid in Final Fantasy XIV, you need to complete a few things first. The requirements aren’t too stringent, but you do need to be level cap, at a certain gear score, and have completed the main scenario quests for the Dawntrail expansion.

• Job Level 100 in any combat job.
• Complete the Dawntrail quest.
• Have a 710 item level.

You don’t need a 710 item level score to unlock World of Darkness Chaotic in Final Fantasy XIV, but you do need it to queue up, so you might as well have that sorted out. If you’ve been spending time in Jeuno: The First Walk, or simply spending some gold/crafting items, getting to 710 is simple enough.

Once you’ve met these requirements, head to the Wandering Minstrel in Tuliyollal (11.1, 14.6). You’ll see a Blue Quest Marker here, so interact with him and select the “World of Darkness” option. A cutscene will start playing and once that's over, you’ll have unlocked FFXIV’s World of Darkness Chaotic raid.

To queue up, open your Duty Finder, select High-end Duty, and click the green Chaotic Alliance Raid icon. Now you’re free to select “World of Darkness (Chaotic)” and queue up. After you’ve completed the raid, you can take your Clouddark Demimateria to Uah’shepya (8.7, 13.5) in Solution Nine to trade for items.

• Shroud of Darkness mount: 99 Clouddark Demimateria I
• A Half Times Two hairstyle: 49 Clouddark Demimateria II
• Clouddark top and leg armor: Three Clouddark Demimateria I
• Clouddark head, gloves, and boots: Two Clouddark Demimateria I
