Added in patch 1.0.5, Gluttony is the final Hard Void Intercept boss in The First Descendant at the time of writing. As expected, he boasts the highest level of all bosses in the game (140) and the tension of a party-wipe mechanic similar to Hanged Man. Gluttony's mechanics are conceptually simpler than Hanged Man, but it's somehow even more finicky, and you may need to practice for a while before a successful run.
This guide discusses everything you need to know about the Gluttony boss in The First Descendant.
How to prepare for the Gluttony boss in The First Descendant
Gluttony is a Level 140 Colossus in The First Descendant that unlocks after you defeat the Molten Fortress at least once. His attacks and mechanics specialize in dealing Chill damage, so if you're having a hard time, try to incorporate Cold Antibody or Anti-Freeze Solution into your build.
Here are some stats to note before you step into the Gluttony Void Intercept battle:
The boss' exoskeleton is weak to Crush damage, except for his individual weak points:
- Core Cover (Chest) and Core: Pierce
- Shoulder: Pierce
- Balancer (Knee): Burst
- Sensor (Head): Burst
In general, due to his weakness to Fire, the meta Lepic bossing build should theoretically work here. However, the 4x Lepic comp is not the best here. Instead, the combination of a Lepic, two Gleys, and an Enzo is better.

Two of his biggest weak points are vulnerable to Pierce, so right off the bat, Pierce-type weapons like Eternal Willpower will function better here. Whatever you use, make sure it's in the ballpark of 500k modded DPS.
Use a combination of the following to deal with the boss mechanics:
- A general-round bullet hose (Eternal Willpower, Tamer, Enduring Legacy) to push the ice orbs
- A long-range Scout Rifle or Sniper Rifle to deal with the purple orbs from a distance.
The First Descendant Gluttony boss fight mechanics, explained
Party-wipe mechanic
Other than the 10-minute timer, the main thing you have to gauge constantly is Gluttony's party-wipe mechanic. This is represented by canisters on his pelvis and an arm cannon that will gradually fill with pink fluid and start glowing. If they complete "charging," Gluttony will charge a blast that will instantly kill the whole party, and you'll fail the fight.
To stop the canister from charging, you have to shoot the ice orbs into the boss. Here's what that involves:
- The boss will summon multiple dispensers across the arena when he spawns. These generate a batch of ice orbs at small intervals.
- Shoot them with a high fire-rate weapon to prod them toward the boss so they explode on contact.
- The ice orbs will naturally feather-fall into the ground and explode if left unchecked, dealing damage and freezing all Descendants around it.
How to end Gluttony's Frenzy (Immunity) Phase?
Gluttony enters an immunity phase (Frenzy mode) twice during the fight. This can be gauged with the Frenzy bar under his health which reveals itself when you use your Ecive (Tab).
There's no Frenzy-exclusive destructible part that appears on Gluttony. To deal with this phase, do the same thing you were doing to stop the canister: push ice orbs into him. Periodically, purple plasma orbs will spawn, gravitate toward these ice orbs, and latch on to them.
Shoot these purple orbs and destroy them when they're (a) close to the boss and (b) have ice orbs chained to them. Doing this successfully with a few orbs diffuses his Frenzy mode.
General tips for dealing with Gluttony in The First Descendant
- The party-wipe mechanic is not to be trifled with. At least two members in a party should take on the duty of constantly sending a barrage of ice orbs into Gluttony.
- Save up the Core (chest) and Shoulder weak points for after the first Frenzy phase, as the ice orb dispensers move further away at this point, making the fight more difficult the longer it stretches.
- Gluttony has some resistance to ability damage. Lepic cannot one-phase him. Instead, try using Fire ATK mods on your weapon.
- Make sure your party has flanked the boss during the Frenzy mode. During this phase, all party members should focus on moving the ice orbs toward him, which can trigger more frequent purple orb spawns near him.
- Another reason to spread out is that Gluttony can sometimes block your line of sight from a purple orb hovering near him, preventing you from using the opportunity.
