How to become Bloodmarked in Diablo 4

PVP exists in Diablo 4, through the Bloodmarked system. However, players will have to manually activate it if they want to take part in player vs. player combat in either of the allotted zones in the current game. While that may change one day, at this time, there’s a very easy way to set yourself up to join in on the blood-soaked carnage. In my experience, I only seemed to run into players of my level while PVPing, but it may be wiser to get to a higher level before tackling this content.

If you’re looking to PVP, then head to one of the two Fields of Hatred maps, become Bloodmarked, and get ready to fight. Whether you just want to collect other players’ ears or purchase some cosmetics with Red Dust, that’s entirely up to you.

In order to be Bloodmarked in Diablo 4, open up the Emote Wheel (up on D-pad/E on keyboard), and locate the Marked for Blood emote. This is defaulted to one of the other tabs—in our case the right side. Clicking it will activate PVP for you, provided you’re in one of two areas.

You can take part in PVP in Denshar and Alzuuda, located on the map above. Once you’re in those towns, or in the region outside of them, you can trigger being Bloodmarked, and begin PVPing against any other player you find. You can take part in events in this area without being flagged for PVP, though.

Defeating other players nets you their ear when you best them. These do nothing other than take up inventory space and remind you who you defeated. You can also get their Red Dust, which is also rewarded from the Fields of Hatred events. You can use that on cosmetics, such as the Brutal Wizard’s Barding for your horse.

How to stop being Bloodmarked in Diablo 4?

You can stop being Bloodmarked in one of two ways. The first is to visit the nearest PVP town to you and interact with the Altar of Cleansing. Just make sure to spend your Red Dust before you go. It does disappear when you leave the area.

If you don’t care about your Red Dust total, you can just leave the area and head to any other part of the game. The PVP flag will disappear since you can’t PVP in those zones anyway. That’s all there is to it.
