Fader in Valheim is undoubtedly one of the most powerful bosses. The Ashlands boss is an undead dragon known to crush enemies with its sharp claws. It also uses several magical attacks, making it rather challenging to defeat. While the boss is extremely potent, there are ways of taking it down.
Before learning how to defeat Valheim's Ashlands boss, players must learn how to locate or summon the boss. That being said, this guide will give you tips on how to find and defeat Fader in Valheim.
How to find Fader in Valheim
Fader is located in the Ashlands Biome, the seventh biome in Valheim. If you want to find Fader, you must read a runestone called Vegvisir. Vegvisir can be used to reveal the locations of bosses in the game. It can also mark the locations of the boos in the player’s world map.
To find the rune stone, players must go to the Charred Fortress dungeons. Vegvisir can be found in the central tower of the fortress which looks like a greyish rock with glowing red runic alphabets written on it. When you interact with it, Fadar’s locations will pop up on the map.
How to summon Fader in Valheim
The Ashlands boss has extremely powerful attacks requiring players to equip the best gears before fighting it. Follow these steps to summon Fader in Valheim:
- Start by collecting 9 Bell Fragments from Charred Fortresses. Each central tower has 2-4 Bell Fragments, meaning players must conquer 3 Charred Fortresses.
- Look for Vegvisir in the central tower of Charred Fortresses to find Fader's arena. Players must note that not all Fortresses will have it; they must keep looking until they find one.
- Craft three Bell Fragments into one Bell at a Black Forge.
- Go to The Emerald Flame arena and clear the area of any enemies around.
- Place the Bells on the bell-holding towers around the central altar.
- Once all three Bells are placed, interact with the Altar to summon Fader.
How to defeat Fader in Valheim
Defeating Fader is one hell of a job. The Valheim boss has no weakness and is immune to most of the attacks. However, knowing its attacks and learning how to avoid them can be helpful.
Its Bite, Swipe, and Grab attacks can be dodged by staying away from its head. The Ashlands boss fully spins and hits with its tail, which can be avoided by staying far from it. Fader will summon Meteors that will land and explode into green flames; players can dodge to the side to avoid the incoming meteor shower.
It breathes fire as a straight-line attack, which must be dodged as it can cause enormous damage. The boss can also create spikes in front of him and leave green flames, which can be hard to dodge, so players must keep their distance.
Fader is immune to Fire and Spirit damage and resistant to Piercing damage, so bows and spears will only do half the damage. Keeping your distance is important because most of its attacks are close-range.
Players can use medium, or light builds to dodge its attacks better. End-game staffs are effective but don't use poison weapons since Fader is immune. To defeat Fader, one must master dodging skills, maintain distance, and keep attacking.

Fadar has both agility and strength and is immune to most attacks making it quite challenging for players to defeat it. It uses a spinning attack, a paw swipe, and a bite for close-range combat. As most of its attacks need to be dodged defeating Fader requires excellent dodge timing.
If you get hit while fighting the boss, retreat and take some time to heal. Alternatively, fight him from a distance using strong weapons. Though arrows do half the damage, good stamina management and movement help avoid his attacks and deal steady damage.
