The Obstructor in The First Descendant is a Level 122 boss unlocked after completing the "Colossi from Another Dimension" quest and defeating all the prior Hard mode bosses. It's a variation of the Executioner boss encountered earlier in the third tier of the Normal and the first tier of the Hard Void Intercept Battles, but with more devastating abilities, higher resistance, and increased damage output.

This guide covers everything you need to know about the Obstructor in The First Descendant, including how to complete this Void Intercept Battle.

The Obstructor specializes in inflicting Toxic Damage and is highly resistant to Toxic and Chill attacks. So, before you start this battle, bolster your defensive stats in The First Descendant with at least 8,000 Toxin Resistance.

Similar to the Swamp Walker — the last boss you encountered in the fifth tier of the Hard Void Intercept Battles — the Obstructor is also vulnerable to Electric damage. So you can continue using the same weapons that you used during the previous battle with Electric Enhancement Modules to maintain high damage output.

Using a Bunny build is also very effective against the boss, as she specializes in inflicting Electric damage with all her abilities.

Additionally, the Obstructor in The First Descendant has multiple Weak Points that you can target for extra damage. These can be highlighted during the battle by pressing the Tab key on the keyboard or the Right Stick on the controller. You can destroy these vulnerable areas temporarily and remove them using your Grappling Hook to stun the boss.

  • Laser Projectiles and Beams: These are the basic attacks the boss will use throughout the battle, similar to the Executioner. You can avoid the green laser projectiles by constantly running to either side and dodge the prolonged laser beam by hiding behind the large pillars in the arena. These pillars will disappear after taking damage, so keep relocating using your Grappling Hook.
  • Additional Enemies (Kingfisher): These enemies will spawn throughout the battle and drop HP and ammo upon death. Kill them immediately to maintain a good supply of ammo.
  • Poison Area-of-Effects (AoEs): The boss will often shoot poison orbs that create an AoE upon hitting the ground, forming puddles that deal Toxic damage. Avoid these by quickly dodging away and staying clear of the puddles.
  • Imprisonment: The boss will sometimes target you or one of your allies to imprison them in a violet cube. Focus all your damage on this cube to free your ally, as they will keep taking damage and eventually die if not freed. This can happen anytime during the battle, so maintaining a good supply of ammo is crucial to free your allies immediately.

Portal Phase

  • The boss will become immune a few times during the fight and have a new Weak Point on its back, the Plasma Amplifier. Destroying this Weak Point will end the immunity phase.
  • However, during this phase, multiple portals will spawn around the arena, releasing numerous orbs that will fly towards the boss. If the boss absorbs a certain number of them, everyone will die, and the fight will end immediately.
  • To avoid this, you must destroy the orbs by shooting them before they can reach the boss while also dealing enough damage to the Plasma Amplifier to end the phase.
