Void Fragments are a special type of activity in The First Descendant that many players are stumped with on launch day. These are the most basic types of Void Missions, marked in black on specific maps. The objective is just a boilerplate Vulgas horde-clearing as you occasionally chip away at the monolithic pillar of Void.
However, some players are specifically stuck with this because they cannot start the activity at all. If you are not sure why the Void Fragment is "Immune," you have come to the right place. In this guide, we will go over how to destroy the Void Fragment, and what you can gain from it.
How to start the Void Fragment activity in The First Descendant
Void Erosion Fragments are generally immune to all weapon damage. They can be hurt by players' skills of a specific attribute or damage type. You must use a specific Descendant skill that deals this damage type and cast it at the pillar to start the mission.
This attribute varies from one Void Fragment to another. To check which skills a specific Void Fragment is vulnerable to, go to the map and hover over its objective pointer.
For example, the Void Mission in Rockfall (Sterile Land) is only vulnerable to Electric damage, so you can use Bunny to start this objective. The one in the Restricted Zone is vulnerable to the Fire attribute instead, so you can chuck Lepic's Grenade at it to start that one.
The Void Fragment in Kingston's Grand Square requires Non-Attribute or physical damage. For this, you can call in a squadmate who picked Ajax as his starter Descendant.

How to get Void Shards in The First Descendant?
You can get Void Shards in The First Descendant by beating a Void Fragment mission. Void Fragment missions also become available again after a few seconds, so you can repeat one mission to gather many Void Shards without leaving the map.
Each type of Void Fragment in The First Descendant rewards you with two types of Void Shard, specific to its attribute vulnerability. These are resources that must be turned in at a Void Fusion Reactor. Generally, shards gained from one Void Fragment will be compatible with the Void Fusion Reactor available in the same region.
The following are all the types of Void Shards you can get in The First Descendant:
- Inorganic Void Shard
- Organic Void Shard
- Monomer Void Shard
- Polymer Void Shard
What are Void Fusion Reactors in The First Descendant?
Void Fusion Reactors are miniboss encounters that spawn Elite enemies who you must defeat to beat the objective. It will consume Void Shards on each attempt, so make sure to farm the nearest Void Fragment activity a few times before you jump in.
After you beat the minibosses in the Void Fusion Reactor mission, a Reconstructed Device will spawn where you can open up an Amorphous Material.
