Polyatomic Ion Particles in The First Descendant are one of the most vital materials that become very important in the mid-to-late game. Like other vital in-game materials, Polyatomic Ion Particles also require extensive grinding to obtain. This item can be found in a specific region where it is dropped by specific enemies.

The First Descendant features an extensive crafting and customization system. It offers a large variety of modules that can be used by players to add certain buffs and abilities to their weapons and gear. The Polyatomic Ion Particles are needed to craft Energy Activators, which are used to increase the max module capacity of weapons and other gear.

In this article, we have discussed in depth how you can start farming Polyatomic Ion Particles in The First Descendant.

Polyatomic Ion Particles can only be found in the Fortress Region. To get them, you need to participate in missions and kill enemies with yellow health bars (aka boss monsters). It is not guaranteed that every boss monster kill will drop the item, so you will need to fight the enemies repeatedly to get enough Polyatomic Ion Particles.

The best location for farming Polyatomic Ion Particles is the Command Relay Barrier Deactivation mission in the Frozen Valley of the Fortress Region. This mission is very straightforward; you just have to kill all the monsters to complete it, making it ideal for grinding. There are three boss enemies that can spawn in this mission.

The boss enemy with the highest chance of dropping the item usually spawns from the eastern side of the mission area. The chances for this boss to drop the material are almost nine out of 10 times. Kill it, and if it drops the item, quickly sprint to get the drop and return to your position. The other two bosses also have a chance to drop Polyatomic Ion Particles, albeit relatively lower.

The difficulty of the mission doesn't determine whether you will get the item or not. That said, while Polyatomic Ion Particles can drop from the boss enemies at any difficulty, it should be noted that the higher the difficulty, the more Particles you will get. Usually, these materials drop in stacks of 5 to 20. The difficulty of the mission determines how many you will get from each drop.
