You'll need to successfully extract in The Forever Winter after each run to safely retrieve all your loot back to The Innards, i.e., your base. This extraction shooter is set in a dystopian world where massive war machines and automatons fight an endless war. You play the role of a scavenger who routinely goes to the battlefields to collect various resources and use them to survive and build a community.
In your runs, you will need to adapt and play strategically to gain as much loot as possible without dying, but if you fail to extract in time, all will be for nothing. Here's everything you need to know to successfully extract in The Forever Winter.
How to extract from a mission in The Forever Winter
When you start a run, either with other players or solo, you will be dropped into the fray without much indication or direction about what to do. For the first few minutes, you will need to roam around the map and get familiar with it. Take mental notes of where all the enemies are and how you can safely dodge them.

While exploring, you will eventually get a marker on your HUD. It's a white square that indicates a location on the map; this is the extraction zone. To extract in The Forever Winter, reach this location and press E to begin the extraction process. After interacting with the location, completing your extraction will take a few moments.
While the extraction is in progress, you will be vulnerable. Make sure there aren't any immediate dangers around you when you start the extraction in The Forever Winter. Once the process is complete, you will safely return to The Innards.

Keep in mind that if you fail to extract or die in the process, you'll lose all your loot. You will retain your character experience but lose weapon experience. If your character dies in one of your runs, a new character will take its place. This new character will be of the same archetype but will have some differences in terms of appearance.
