Gold is an important mechanic in Path of Exile 3.25's League. Here's how to make plenty of it (Image via Grinding Gear Games)

Path of Exile’s 3.25 update introduced the Settlers of Kalguur League, which requires a ton of gold. In essence, you manage and run your own small village, and that costs money. You have to pay people to work for you, to run maps for you, and things of that nature. There are plenty of ways to go about making money, whether passively or actively. Some people rely on shipments of resources to make gold, but there are plenty of ways.

The methods below are far from the only ways to farm gold in Path of Exile 3.25, but they are among our favorites. They will require you to do some map running, however - normal and Synthesized. This update added a ton of great features, but it’s also the first time gold has been in the game.

One way to farm gold in Path of Exile 3.25 is by taking advantage of the new Town mechanics. It’s one that’s going to take some time to unlock, and that’s by reaching Rank 11 with your Mining in Kingsmarch. This unlocks All Mining Ores in Areas Grants Gold Equal to the Amount of Ore as one of the abilities you have.

What it means is pretty simple. If an Ore Node has, say, 500 ore on it, you’ll gain 500 gold immediately when you mark it to be mined by your town. Since most maps have a few nodes on them, this is something that’s going to start piling up swiftly. When you couple this with the gold rewards for completing a map in general, you’re going to start seeing results.

This means you’re going to need gold to fund this operation, and get to Mining 11. Running maps to get gold will be the focus, but there’s another way you can start amassing the resource - for this, and for other necessities.

Running Synthesized maps is a fantastic way to farm gold in Path of Exile 3.25. You should make 15k gold on average doing this - combine with the 100% increased experience points and you can level up and stack mountains of gold.

It’s especially nice when you see Synth Monsters Can Drop Quality Currency, because you can pick up items that will sell quite well, and often easily help you pay for the map in the first place. An example are Glassblowers, which often run for about 3c (Chaos Orbs). The more modifiers you have on a map, the more money you can make as well.

There is also the downside that this method of grinding could make the Synth Map price skyrocket, and become incredibly expensive. Another option, if you’ve completed your Atlas, is to use a series of Scarabs and do Strongbox runs to potentially make 20k gold a map. You need:

  • Ambush Scarab of Discernment (Strongboxes in Area are more likely to be rarer variants)
  • Ambush Scarab of Hidden Compartments (15% chance for Strongboxes in Area to be openable again)
  • Ambush Scarab x2 (Area contains 5 additional Strongboxes)

You also want the Ambush craft on your map before going in. This method is recommended because the scarabs in question aren’t expensive, and nearly every build can take part - whether you’re running Lightning Strike Deadeye or Hexblast Mines Trickster.

It’s recommended to use a map with a large layout (such as Dunes or Jungle Valley). To craft the map, it’s recommended to use 4x Cartographer’s Chisels, and use an Orb of Alchemy on it. If you’re happy with it, just run through it. It’s also recommended to use a Vaal Orb to corrupt the map as well. By using these methods, it should be fairly easy to farm gold in Path of Exile 3.25.
