Living Steel in Diablo 4 is one of several valuable items needed to summon an Uber boss. Two of these items are required to summon the boss Grigoire, The Galvanic Saint, an enemy introduced in Season 3. If you're building a seasonal character who requires certain gear that this boss drops, you'll want to make sure you have plenty of this summoning material.
In Diablo 4 Season of the Infernal Hordes, Uber bosses like Grigoire who were introduced in earlier patches are still relevant and important. These bosses are always updated to drop gear that's good for the newest seasons and for your character's level. If you want to get the best armor and weapons for running Infernal Hordes in Diablo 4 then you'll need to be farming Uber bosses.
In this guide, we're going to go over the steps to get Living Steel and how to use it to summon Grigoire, The Galvanic Saint.
Best way to farm Living Steel in Diablo 4
Unfortunately, Living Steel in Diablo 4 Season 5 is probably the most difficult of all Uber boss materials to get. While other materials can be found in plenty through basic activities or simply killing monsters, Living Steel requires more tedious farming methods. For this reason, it is highly recommended that you save your materials until you are on world Tier 4, to not waste loot on a lower-tier Grigoire spawn.
We will list the most efficient methods for farming Living Steel below:
Best Living Steel farms
- Tortured Gift Chests
- Killing elite enemies
- Whisper Caches
- Open Tortured Gift of Living Steel
Although there are a few different ways to get Living Steel, some have higher RNG chances than others. For example, killing elite enemies has a low chance of dropping the item compared to Whisper Caches. It's also important to note that both the Tortured Gift of Living Steel and Tortured Gift Chests are guaranteed to drop Living Steel.

Once you have two Living Steel in your inventory, you can head to the Dry Steppes to begin the summoning process. Enter the Hall of the Penitent instance and make your way to the Chamber of Penitence. Here you can forfeit the required items.
After putting the summoning materials into the Light-Touched Altar, Grigoire, The Galvanic Saint will spawn so be ready for a fight. As always, you must make sure your build is strong enough for a boss fight before engaging. If it isn't, then you risk losing your materials without getting any loot to recompense your effort.
