Murky Energy Residue is one of the many reagents you need to farm in The First Descendant. If you’re looking to craft characters like Valby or make Crystallization Catalysts, you will need this useful reagent. There have been a few places in the past to farm it, but there’s an incredibly easy one available right now. You can dive into a dungeon, defeat a certain enemy, and rinse and repeat until you have exactly how much you’re looking for.

Crystallization Catalysts are incredibly important, as they’re used in assigning socket types to Weapon and Descendant Modules. If you want to avoid spending real money on them, you’ll have a grind ahead of you, and one of the items you must farm for it is Murky Energy Residue in The First Descendant. Here’s what you need to know about this item.

Murky Energy Residue in The First Descendant can be farmed from the Sterile Land dungeon: The Forgottense. You don’t have to do it on Hard, either. If you do it Normal, you can just run to roughly the halfway point, defeat a particular monster that drops the reagent, abandon the dungeon, and do it again if needed. Valby, for example, takes 40, and this monster drops 13.

Just queue up for a private Normal run of Forgottense, preferably as someone skilled at AOE and is fast - like Bunny - and start running. Around halfway through the dungeon, you will see a pack of enemies, including a yellow-named enemy, Elite Tracker. Killing it will drop the Murky Energy Residue in The First Descendant.

At this point, you can abandon the dungeon, return to Albion, and either resume grinding through this dungeon from the beginning or move on. One kill of the Elite Tracker is enough for the Murky Energy Residue part of a Crystallization Catalyst - it only needs eight, and the Elite drops 13.

If you want to make Valby, you must grind a bit more. Honestly, it’s always worth having plenty of Murky Energy Residue, so doing a lengthy farm run isn’t a bad idea. That way, you have plenty if you need to make more Crystallization Catalysts further down the line. There’s no point in doing the “Hard” difficulty since you get the same amount of the crafting reagent either way.
