As you journey to WoW The War Within’s Siren Isle, you’re going to occasionally see Flame Blessed Iron drop. This is the new currency available on the island, to unlock catch-up gear, transmogs, minions, and a variety of other items. As with all currencies in World of Warcraft, it can be incredibly tedious to farm, and if you want to unlock everything with it, it’s going to be quite the long haul. However, you can get a bit of it in your pocket.
Siren Isle is the new quest hub found in patch 11.0.7, and whether you’re completing quests or defeating enemies, you stand a good chance to accrue Flame Blessed Iron in WoW The War Within. Here’s how you can start stockpiling this currency.
How to gather Flame Blessed Iron in WoW The War Within
Generally, you can gather Flame Blessed Iron in WoW The War Within simply by killing enemies on Siren Isle. In my experience, essentially everything has dropped this currency — it may not always be in large amounts, but the drops have been incredibly consistent — just like farming gold in other areas.
- Normal enemies: 1-3 Flame Blessed Iron
- Elites: 5-15 Flame Blessed Iron
- Rares: 80-100 Flame Blessed Iron
These are not the only ways to earn Flame Blessed Iron in WoW The War Within, though. One major way is by taking part in Major Excavations. This requires getting a little further on Siren Isle by completing some of the tutorial quests. Once you can interact with the map in your quest hub area (Flotsam Shore), you can contribute Flame Blessed Iron to one of three Major Excavations.
Once 150 Flame Blessed Iron has been contributed, NPCs will head to the appropriate place on the map and begin excavating. You can see these on your map, so they aren’t hard to spot. Each one has a group of enemies inside, and a Rare Elite, slaying it will net you Flame Blessed Iron and potentially more.
- Shuddering Hollow: Stalagnarok
- The Drain: Gravesludge
- The Drowned Lair: Nerathor
You do need to at least hit these monsters, but you don’t have to do all the work yourself or even contribute in a meaningful way to farm Flame Blessed Iron this way in WoW The War Within. You definitely should put your all into it though, so the fight ends faster.
In addition to these, which net around 180 Flame Blessed Iron, you can complete Daily Quests both at Flotsam Shoal and around the map; these also grant you 200 Flame Blessed Iron. It’s worth taking the time to do these relatively simple daily quests if you’re trying to maximize your output.
While you’re grinding daily quests, excavations, and simply slaying monsters, you should also look out for a specific item: Overflowing Bag of Iron. Any enemy can drop these, and if you find one, that’s a free 500 Flame Blessed Iron in WoW The War Within — can’t beat that! They’re fearfully rare, though.
The long and short of it is, you need to just take part in everything on Siren Isle to get as much Flame Blessed Iron as possible. Taking part in specific activities on the island, such as dailies, will net you more than just killing monsters.
