Red-border weapons are rare to come by in Destiny 2, especially if they are tied to Raids. Getting five red-border copies of the same weapon requires a lot of work and patience, as most of the drops come down to one's luck. However, there is a chance for players to double the amount of red-border loot by following a hidden mechanic in Salvation's Edge Raid.

This is similar to any other Raid in the game, where a fireteam must do some additional tasks outside the primary encounters to ensure one Deepsight weapon drops after completing the final encounter.

This article will guide you through the process of getting a guaranteed red-border weapon each week from Salvation's Edge Raid. Note that the red-border weapon will drop only if the entire fireteam completes the Raid in one sitting. All members logging out of the Raid at one time will break the process, and the red border will not drop at the end.

Destiny 2 Salvation's Edge guaranteed red-border weapon guide

1) Main mechanics

The mechanic to unlock a guaranteed red-border loot in Destiny 2 Salvation's Edge Raid involves shapes, plates, and pillars. This is the recurring mechanic of the Raid, so players should know the basics of "ping-pong," alongside closing a pillar/conduit.

Your first task is to spawn and start heading forward through the jumping puzzles, until you come across an open area with a couple of huge doors and three sets of signs.

Look for the third column from the left, marked in the image below, and take note of the shapes starting from bottom to top.

We will use an example for this article, with Shapes from bottom to top being: Triangle-Square-Square-Triangle-Circle (1-2-3-4-5). The number signifies the rooms. It is good practice to keep this noted down in the fireteam chat.

Now, your second task is to take note of the Shapes that are in 1,3, and 5. "1" is the bottom Shape, with "3" being the middle and "5" being the topmost Shape. In this case, it should be Triangle-Square-Circle.

All that is left for you to do is find the three secret rooms throughout the Raid. There are five rooms in total for the five Shapes, but you can only go for the first, third, and fifth room for the red-border weapon. Once you are in the rooms, start the Plate encounter, remember the shapes, and pick up the matching Shape to close the pillar/Conduit.

For example, here, the number 1=Triangle. This means that in the first room, you need to have Triangular Resonance to close the Conduit. Similarly, room "3" will require a Hexahedron Resonance, and room "5" will require a Spherical Resonance.

You can send buffs between plates to spawn three shards, and pick up one matching Shape to close the Conduit in the end. If everything has been done correctly, you will see a message at the bottom-left saying "A Boon will be granted."

Note that the Shapes mentioned in this article are only for example purposes. Your fireteam will get different Shapes every time you start the Raid.

2) Room 1

Before the first encounter, once you start climbing the stairs, look for a small gap on the left side.

Enter through the gap, and you will find a small opening in the wall that leads to a room with plates.

3) Room 3:

The second room is after the first encounter and before the second encounter. After taking the red elevator, start climbing the jade platforms on the left.

Look for a small opening on the right. Enter the gap, and you will find the room.

4) Room 5:

The final set of plates can be found just before the third encounter, at the beginning of the root-jumping puzzle. Before heading any further in the jumping puzzle, climb up on the left side within the red cube area.

The location is right after the first secret chest.

The reason why you should ignore the Shape numbers 2 and 4, which in this case, will be Square and Triangle, is because they are tied to the Raid mods. However, these puzzles will be locked until you complete all encounter triumphs.
