WoW’s Headless Horseman mount is easily one of the coolest mounts in MMO history. As one of the many holiday-only mounts, it’s incredibly rare and is available for a limited period each year. However, one of the downsides is that it only has a 0.3 or 0.4% chance of ever dropping. Some players have been hunting the mount for a decade and have yet to see it drop.

While there's no cannot guarantee when it will drop, we explain what you can do to try and get the Headless Horseman mount in WoW this Hallow’s End.

Tips to get the Headless Horseman’s mount in WoW

The Headless Horseman mount is only available during Hallow’s End in WoW. This year, the event will be around from October 25, 2024, through November 8, 2024. Thankfully, obtaining this mount isn’t one of the requirements to get the meta achievement for the holiday. It only drops from one source: the epic Loot-filled Pumpkin.

You need to be at least level 10 to receive the epic version of this container, and you can only get it once a day per character. This is a confirmed change, with previous years requiring a much higher level to start seeing the Epic pumpkins. The way I unlocked it back in 2010 is the exact same way you should farm it in 2024. Although, I cannot say whether this is a good or bad method. You need to have an army of alts ready to grind out this event every single day.

If you want the Headless Horseman mount in WoW, I recommend running it on every 60+ character you have every day when the Hallow’s End event starts. At least players don’t have to roll on it anymore. Just enter the Dungeon Finder, open up the Hallow’s End event, and queue up.

You don’t have to attempt getting it on Hard Mode either. However, since it’s not confirmed to increase your chances, I wouldn't recommend doing that. There are achievements to unlock in Hard Mode, so if that’s your thing, you can go right ahead and do so. There are also other great cosmetics to get, such as the adorable ghost dog Arfus and Windborne Velocidrake: Hallow’s End Armor.

The sad truth though is that there’s no easy way to get the mount in World of Warcraft. Being one of the rarest, it is available only for a very limited time. That said, some mounts are rarer, like Spirit of Eche’ro, which is available two days a year.

The best advice I can give is to do it every single day, and make sure you pop open the Loot-filled Pumpkin on every character that is free to run it. The only thing that would hold you back is the number of level 60+ characters you have across World of Warcraft’s various servers.
