Mental Focus is one of the meta modules for high-magazine guns in The First Descendant. It decreases your fire rate but grants a stacking Firearm ATK buff that persists until you reload or switch out the weapon. Naturally, on a Predator Instinct Gley build or bullet hoses like the Tamer, this is a big game-changer for sustained DPS.

You can get three variants of Mental Focus in The First Descendant: slottable on General Rounds, Special Rounds, and Impact Rounds weapons. respectively. In this guide, we'll explain the fastest way to get all of these.

How to farm Mental Focus in The First Descendant (General Rounds)

To get the Mental Focus module in The First Descendant, farm the Void Fragment in Repository, Sterile Lands on Hard Mode. This has a 5% chance to drop the General Rounds variant of the mod upon completion, and it's the fastest method among all the different drop sources.

It also happens to be an Electricty-based Void Fragment activity, making it a cakewalk for a high-range Bunny build.

How to farm Special Rounds Mental Focus in The First Descendant

The best way to farm the Special Rounds variant of Mental Focus in The First Descendant is grinding the Floodplain mission in Vespers on Hard Mode. This is an Extermination mission located in Vespers' Moonlight Lake sub-region, and you can easily beat it in two or three minutes. On Hard mode, this has a 5% chance to drop at the end of each run.

How to farm Impact Rounds Mental Focus in The First Descendant

The fastest way to farm the Impact Rounds version of Mental Focus in The First Descendant is from the Abandoned Village mission in Lost Supply Depot, Vespers. As always, only grind this on Hard Mode, as the mod has a 5% chance to drop (as opposed to 1.5% on Normal).

Mission monsters all over Vespers can also drop the Impact Rounds and Special Rounds versions of Mental Focus. However, the chance of that is so low that you're better off farming the mission rewards.

Farming Void Intercept battles for Mental Focus

Alternately, you can obtain variants of Mental Focus from Hard Mode Void Intercept bosses, though it's not a guaranteed drop even here:

General Rounds: Hard Devourer
Special Rounds: Hard Swamp Walker
Impact Rounds: Hard Pyromaniac

How much damage does Mental Focus give at max rank?

At max module rank, Mental Focus grants +1% Firearm ATK for two seconds, which can stack up to 150 times. To get the full buff, you'd need a 151+ magazine size, attainable only on select Machine Guns. In practice, the mod only shines on a Gley build with a very high fire-rate weapon.
