The Mid-Air Maneuvering mod is arguably the best grappling hook module in The First Descendant. Generally, the grappling hook allows you to only latch onto surfaces and ledges up to about 15 meters away. However, Mid-Air Maneuvering lets you quite literally grasp at air, launching yourself skywards from the ground or mid-jump. In many cases, this mod is the best use for your sub-attack mod slot.

In this guide, we'll explain how you can farm the Mid-Air Maneuvering mod in The First Descendant.

How to farm Mid-Air Maneuvering in The First Descendant

To get the Mid-Air Maneuvering mod in The First Descendant, your best bet is to farm the Fire Void Fragment activity in Restricted Zone, Sterile Land. This mission only has a 1.5% chance to drop the mod upon completion on Normal Mode, but that jumps up to 5% if you do it on hard.

This translates to a successful run every 15 attempts for an average user, but if you get unlucky, you might have to do as many as 90 runs. Even so, given the short amount of time it would take to beat a Void Fragment mission, you can expect to get the mod within one hour of farming.

Mission monsters all over Sterile Land also drop it, so you can also chance upon a lucky Mid-Air Maneuvering drop while farming Code Breakers or Gold on Anticipated Ambush Point.

You can also get it by combining mods, with 4x gold-rarity Malachite socket mods granting the highest chance.

What does Mid-Air Maneuvering do in The First Descendant?

The Mid-Air Maneuvering mod is one of three grappling hook Modules in The First Descendant, although it beats the others in terms of practicality. Essentially, Mid-Air Maneuvering lets you cast the grappling hook at any targeted spot without having to worry about surfaces. As a trade-off, you only get one grappling hook charge.

This trade-off is absolutely worth it, as you can now use that single charge as a get-out-of-jail-free card in tricky situations like AoE Void Intercept boss attacks. As with any other mod that goes in the sub-attack slot, a maxed-out Mid-Air Maneuvering gives you 10 additional mod capacity.

The only thing to consider here is your stage of progression. Not only is the mod much harder to farm before you unlock Hard Mode, but it also takes over 300k Kuiper Shards and 3 million golds to max out. Therefore, it is recommended that you start pumping upgrade levels into it once you have secured easy ways to farm Kuiper Shards and Gold.
