Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred features a handy new currency called Pale Marks. This comes as a result of the new Mercenary system and ultimately can be used to barter for some incredibly useful equipment and legendary aspects. However, once you’ve started playing the Vessel of Hatred expansion, it may not be very clear exactly how you can unlock these Pale Marks and put them to use.
Thankfully, it won’t take you long to start working on the Mercenary system in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred, but getting Pale Marks is another story entirely. Here’s everything you need to know about this useful new currency.
How can you farm Pale Marks in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred?
Pale Marks are a currency in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred you receive from your Mercenaries. You won’t get these right away, though. Pale Marks come as a result of raising your rapport with every mercenary that you recruit. You have to level them up though, and you can have two of them at once - one as your Primary Mercenary, and the other as your backup/reinforcement.
You have to get to at least Rapport Level 5 with a Mercenary to begin unlocking Pale Marks and the Bartering system. In order to get to Rapport level 5, you will want to constantly fight enemies throughout Sanctuary. Certain Rapport levels will give you more Pale Marks, typically 100-200 of them at a time. Just head to the Rapport tab of your equipped Mercenaries to claim these when it's time.
Once you max out a Mercenary, you can keep grinding exp with them to unlock bundles of 200 Pale Marks, so don’t worry about running out of them as a Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred player. It doesn’t matter which Mercenaries you use either, because everyone can give you Pale Marks. It’s worth it to max them all out, though, for their various skillsets and Rapport rewards.
Simply bringing your mercenaries into battle with you and slaughtering the forces of Hell is the best way to level them up, so make sure they’re always with you. Once you have access to Pale Marks, you can speak to Fayira in The Den to barter for caches of gear, and much more. Since this currency is account-bound, it makes a great way to gear up alts if needed.
