Rock Drake in Ark Survival Ascended is a massive carnivorous creature that can be tamed. These dinosaurs look like giant lizards with feathers and are incredibly effective: they can climb walls, glide across the air, and even turn invisible. As such, they are extremely useful as an ally.

Unlike most creatures in the game, Rock Drake can’t be tamed as an adult. To tame a Rock Drake players will need to find one of their eggs and hatch them. After hatching the egg, players will need to raise the creature by themselves and put a saddle on it to ride on its back.

Where can you find Rock Drake eggs in ARK Survival Ascended

The Rock Drake Eggs are found in one of the most dangerous places in the Aberration Map expansion. This area is located just south of the center of the map. The name of the location is The Grave of the Lost, located just below the Element Falls. You can find this falls behind the twin waterfall. You can find this in the area near the coordinates lat 56, long 57.

Keep in mind that the moment you enter the location and pick up the egg, packs of Rock Drakes will start hunting you. Try to bring a powerful mount like the Spinosaur to fight the Rock Drakes. Additionally, don’t forget to have a Tek Suit or a Hazard suit with you if you want to survive the radiation at this location.

How to tame Rock Drake eggs in ARK Survival Ascended

To tame a Rock Drake in ARK Survival Ascended, you'll need to fetch its egg and hatch it at your base. The Rock Drake eggs are only hatched in very low temperatures. The required temperature is -85°C. To reach the ideal temperature to hatch a Rock Drake egg, you will need at least 20 Air conditioners set in an enclosed room. It takes around 3 days and 20 minutes for the egg to hatch.

Another strategy that many players use to hatch the egg without Air conditioners is putting the Rock Drake egg with a bunch of Dimetrodon eggs in an enclosed room. These eggs naturally lower the temperature to ideal temperatures. A baby Rock Drake in Ark Survival Ascended will take Nameless Venom as food.

You will need a Rock Drake saddle to ride it. The required level for crafting this saddle is 75. You can craft it using:

Smithy
Argentavis Saddle
Castoroides Saddle
Thorny Dragon Saddle
Tek Replicator

The materials needed to make the saddle are:

350 × Hide
225 × Fiber
125 × Metal Ingot or Scrap Metal Ingot
85 × Red Gem or Red Crystalized Sap
