Salt is a resource in Once Human that has many uses, but it's quite tricky to obtain. It isn't readily available in any natural deposit in the game world. Although you may eventually find some lying around in containers scattered across the map, the main and most effective method to get salt in Once Human is to simply cook it using a Stove and Seawater.
In this guide, we've shared a step-by-step process for fixing your salt crisis in Once Human.
Guide for getting salt in Once Human
Unlock the Stove
- Navigate to the "Managing" skill tree in the Memetic menu.
- Find the "Stoves" Memetic in the first tier.
- Build a Stove within your base.

Gather Seawater
- Locate a beach area (recommended: the shore below Overlook Town).
- Walk into the ocean until you're standing in the water.
- It may show a "Drink" prompt, but don't worry, your character will collect the water instead of drinking it.
- Use the prompted input to collect Seawater (usually activated by pressing F).
- Make sure you have a container like the Sealed Flask.
- Repeat until you have the desired amount of Seawater.
Go back to your base
- If you're in Overlook Town, simply use the nearby Teleportation Tower.
- Fast travel back to your base with your Seawater inventory.
Cook the Salt:
- Approach your Stove.
- Access the Stove's menu.
- Locate the Salt recipe.
- Place one stack of Seawater into the Stove.
- Begin the cooking process.
- Wait for the cooking process to complete.
- Retrieve Salt from the Stove.
