How to get Scarlet Calamus in Once Human

As you explore Once Human, you’ll find a variety of useful crafting reagents, including Scarlet Calamus, which is arguably one of the more important. It’s likely that, depending on where you’re exploring, you’ve walked right past this red-tipped plant in freshwater around the map. It’s not challenging to find, and you can even set up a farm for it in your base, provided you can find some seeds of it.

What makes Scarlet Calamus so useful is that you can use it to make Fruit Tea. Fruit Tea is a hydrating beverage that also aids in keeping your Sanity high in Once Human - an important key to success in this survival MMO.

Before you start harvesting Scarlet Calamus in Once Human at all, make sure you have a Harvesting Sickle equipped, which is found in Memetic Specializations. Having one equipped will double your harvest of plants, making it a must-have. You will also have a chance of scoring seeds, and that’s what you want if you plan on making your own Scarlet Calamus farm.

You can find Scarlet Calamus in both Chalk Peak and Dayton Wetlands as you explore Once Human. Any of the freshwater areas - swampy or otherwise - will lead you to some of these red-tipped plants.

One of the best places anyone can find is (6152, -3550) in the Dayton Wetlands. This is near a lake, and you should have no trouble scouring it for plenty of Scarlet Calamus. Any lake or river in either of these areas should secure you plenty of this valuable resource. Other players recommend near (-871, -7408) and (-1034, -7487) in Chalk Peak to find both Scarlet Calamus and Yellow Lotus.

There's another amazing place to farm Scarlet Calamus in the Broken Delta. Take the Teleportation Tower near Sunbury. You'll head up the rocks near the teleportation tower, and glide down into a hidden area. There is a bunch of Scarlet Calamus, Mushrooms, and Ore down here.

Both of these flowers are useful in several recipes, but one of the most interesting ones is the Nalcott Easter Eggs - a sort of gacha/gambling item you can craft later in the game. There are plenty of spots you can farm for this plant, usually near the edge of any fresh water.

In addition, if you can secure some seeds, take the time to unlock Advanced Planting, and make some Plant Boxes. That, alongside the useful Buzzy Bee Deviant, will secure you more than enough Scarlet Calamus. That’s the ultimate goal - getting some seeds and making an in-house farm so you don’t have to go scouring lakes and rivers like you used to.
