How to get the Sherman Firefly in War Thunder

The Sherman Firefly in War Thunder is a modified M4 Sherman from the American tech tree. The British modified the M4 to replace the normal short-barreled 75 mm gun with the longer and more powerful 76 mm QF17-pounder cannon. The turret of the M4 was also modified so that the cannon could fit in the tank.

The size of the original turret was not increased, and as a result, the bigger breach of the longer gun meant that the space inside the turret was very cramped. The turret was also slightly stretched at the back to fit the radio station.

The Sherman Firefly is a Rank III, Battle Rating 4.7 medium tank in the British ground tree in War Thunder. To unlock Rank III, you first need to research and buy six vehicles at Rank II.

Owing to the addition of the 17-pounder gun, you lose the low-speed gun stabilizer that you get on most other Sherman variants. However, the 17-pounder gives a major boost to the tank's firepower as it can go toe-to-toe with tanks like the German Panther and Tiger I.

Apart from Britain, there is a version of the Firefly in the Italian ground tree. It is called the Sherman Vc and is a Rank IV, Battle Rating 5.0 medium tank.

The Vc is similar to the Firefly, with the same chassis, turret, and cannon. However, it sits at BR 5.0 because, unlike the British, the Italian version of the tank gets access to APDS shells, which can penetrate almost every other tank that it faces.
