Of all the handguns in The First Descendant, The Last Dagger can achieve the highest amount of burst DPS if you do things right. For a mid-game weapon that you can get from Echo Swamps, The Last Dagger has some good stats. With weapon-level transmission, it can be leveraged well into the late-game if you need a single-target burst on a mobbing character.
In this guide, we will go over how to unlock and craft this weapon in The First Descendant, as well as the best builds for it.
How to unlock The Last Dagger in The First Descendant
To get The Last Dagger handgun in The First Descendant, all you have to do is gain access to the Echo Swamp area. All of the components for this weapon can be obtained from various battlefields in Echo Swamp:
- Last Dagger Polymer Synctium can be obtained from the Kuiper Transport Route mission in Misty Woods (20% chance per completion)
- Last Dagger Synthetic Fiber can drop from the Abandoned Zone composite mission (20% chance per completion)
- The Last Dagger Nano Tube can be obtained from The Tree of Truth in Muskeg Swamp (20% chance per run)
- The main Blueprint can be farmed from the Emergency Landing Strip mission in Derelict Covert (20% chance per completion)
Note that these parts only drop in Normal Mode, and they will not be in the loot table if you change the World Difficulty to Hard. Once you have all of these parts, you can go to Anais in Albion to Research it. The process takes 100,000 Gold and 4 hours to complete.

Best Modules to use of The Last Dagger in The First Descendant
The Last Dagger is one of The First Descendant's General Rounds weapons, meaning ammo is very easy to come by. However, it is not good at killing mobs, and instead, its talents lie in unloading a high-damage magazine on a VIP target.
Like all Ultimate weapons in The First Descendant, Last Dagger's main gimmick is its unique trait, "Ultimatum." The gist is that killing monsters gives you the Patience buff which can stack up to five times, increasing your Firearm ATK by 30% and Critical Hit Rate by 12% at max stacks.
To leverage this, it is best to go for a full burst-DPS approach with Fire Rate, Magazine size, damage, and crits. Here are the modules we recommend using in order of priority:
- Fire Rate UP
- Rifling Reinforcement
- Insight Focus
- Better Insight
- Expand Weapon Charge
- Concentrate Support Ammo
- Refrigerate Gunbarrel
- other Elemental Mods
We also recommend you play around with the weapon a bit before you sink an Energy Activator into it, as this is not a traditional weapon you can sport in Void Intercept battles.
