Phase Exchangers are among the most important items in The First Descendant. Using this powerful item, you can skip a significant amount of weapon grinding and use the Phase Exchanger to sacrifice other unwanted weapons to your favorite, thus, gaining those levels just a bit faster. It’s not recommended to waste these in the early game, though. Instead, save them for more powerful guns that you’d like to use.

However, if you are keen to put some regular as well as ultimate weapons to use, you’ll want to get your hands on Phase Exchangers. This guide explains how to get them and what they do for you.

You can acquire Phase Exchangers in The First Descendant by visiting Anais, in the western part of Albion. However, you cannot simply buy them with money. Instead, you need crafting material alongside the research cost of 2,500 Gold. You need 50 Superalloy, and will also have to wait two minutes and 30 seconds for the item to be completed.

If you want to farm Superalloy, you will need to break down unwanted weapons. That’s where this particular crafting material comes from. Grind out several missions and dismantle the weapons to gather Superalloy.

You can use a Phase Exchanger in The First Descendant to increase a weapon's level once you’re at a Workbench. When you have a Phase Exchanger or two, head to the Workbench near Anais, and select Weapon Level Transmission station. Select the weapon you want to upgrade, and then the one you want to get rid of.

You’ll also see the stat changes ahead of the upgrade, so you can decide if it’s worth changing or not. However, it’s recommended not to just upgrade weapons needlessly. When you find a powerful, later-game weapon, you can take a weaker one with a higher level, and transfer that experience over. This will increase the usefulness of the better weapon.

Precision Phase Exchangers are exclusively used for Ultimate Weapons in The First Descendant and can be unlocked the same way as a regular item. You need to farm 750 Liquid Metal and pay the 50,000 Gold research cost to unlock this item.

You can also receive Liquid Metal by dismantling weapons, so keep an eye on this resource. Like the regular Phase Exchanger, use it to transfer the weapon level to an Ultimate Weapon. It’s a great way to transform a late-game, low-level weapon into something far more devastating and impactful.
