The First Descendant is still in its beta testing phase, but you can play with friends if you’d like to. In fact, games like this are meant to be played with a friend. Since Nexon’s upcoming shooter has crossplay, it’s also much easier to get a group, no matter where your closest friends choose to game at.

However, it might feel a bit clunky to invite your friends in The First Descendant. That’s something that could easily change later, as the game is still very much in its testing phases. If you want to bring someone along for the ride, here’s how to do that in this co-op shooter.

Thankfully, it’s not too hard to play with friends or even nearby players in The First Descendant. However, your friends must be in your friends list. To do that, go to the Social tab of the Social menu, and look for the Player Search and Request Received section of the menu.

This is where you’ll find friend requests, or you can enter someone’s Player ID to add them to your list. If you see your friends in-game and don’t have them in your friends list yet, you can also go up to them, interact (default “T” key), and select “Friend Request” to add them to your social list.

However, if your friends are already on your list, you can take the steps below to invite them to your group:

  • Head into the social menu (press "M" to pull up the map, and click "social").
  • Click the second tab on the left side (looks like a person inside of a computer chip).
  • Click a person in that list and select “Invite to Party”.

That’s all there is to it! However, you do need to be in Albion in order to invite people to your party, via the social menu tab. This could change later in the game’s development as well - if it is, we’ll update accordingly.

While The First Descendant will have “endless endgame content”, the same cannot be said for its social menu offerings. When you’re on the social menu, you can see a few things. The social menu has a few columns: Local Players/Recent Players, Friends, and Player Search/Friend Requests.

If you want to invite nearby random players to join you in this game, click the social tab above the one for friends (has an infinite symbol on it). That’s where you invite the players who are nearby you.

The middle column is for anyone on your friends list who is online. Then, on the far right, you have the ability to search by Player ID and see any friend requests and support requests. While the game doesn’t have a ton of social options at this time, it does allow for cross-play and cross-progression, so that’s going to be helpful down the line.

The First Descendant is currently in the testing phase and is scheduled to launch on July 2, 2024, for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
