WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria is the hot new game mode available for a limited time in World of Warcraft. It’s something that the fan base has been incredibly excited about, me included. Players can dive back into the original content for the Mists of Pandaria expansion, but in a way never experienced before. This will be the only place people level up at, and there are some notable changes.

If you want to get started in WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria, it’s as simple as making sure you’re subscribed to the retail World of Warcraft. The game will prompt you to make a character, to be a Timerunner, on whichever server you were likely logged into last. You can make a character there, or on any other retail server - this is not a separate game mode or client that you have to download.

From there, you can roll any character, for either faction. This includes your Allied Races, provided you’ve unlocked them. For example, my first character was a Lightforged Draenei Arms Warrior. While the content is strictly Mists of Pandaria, you aren’t locked to whatever race/class combinations were available back in those days.

Once you’ve created your character, you’ll load onto Timeless Isle and have to complete a couple of simple quests. These unlock your Cloak of Infinite Potential. This will give you the Timerunner’s Advantage buff, which grows in power as you play. That’s all there is to it! Now you’re free to explore the world, tackle raids, and go through dungeons, as you level from 10-70.

The aforementioned Cloak of Infinite Potential is among the more important facets of WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria. As you play through the expansion, you’ll see threads that can be woven into the cloak. Each of these is focused around a specific stat and the higher level you are, the better these threads can be.

You can farm up so many of these, with the highest achievement being rewarded for adding 4200 threads to your cloak. You can also get a truly staggering exp buff from the cloak’s buff - going up to 300% exp.

Gems are also far more potent and powerful in WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria. All of your gear slots now contain gem sockets - even the beginning gear! The only exception appears to be weapons. There are new gem types for specific slots, too:

• Shoulders/Wrists/Gloves/Belt: Tinker
• Boots: Cogwheel

Gems scale to the item they’re equipped with, except Cogwheels. You can find these new, amazing gems inside of Cache of Infinite Potential, which can be purchased from Lidamorrutu, and rewarded for all kinds of in-game activities: Raids, Scenarios, Dungeons, and most quests. Thankfully, you can remove your gems and put them in newer gear, which is another amazing feature.

Some of these are absolute insanity, such as Quick Strike. This Tinker Gem gives your melee abilities a 100% chance to trigger 4 to 7 additional autoattacks (with a 10s cooldown). Another great feature is that you can buy some fantastic mounts, and unlock new, fun achievements.

Many of these mounts are remixed from the original expansion, but you can also buy the rarest mounts from this expansion with Bronze - a new currency that drops from virtually everything.
