With hundreds of hours worth of content in The First Descendant, players will be busy looting and shooting across the expansive sci-fi environments whether solo or in co-op. By default, however, the game is public due to its online-only nature. In other words, players can see other users running around in Albion's hub area and even join them for missions out in the sandbox areas.

However, not everyone is a fan of this feature. Players who wish for a solo experience unbothered by others will want to change their Public session to Private as soon as possible. Unfortunately, it is immediately clear how to do this, but this guide aims to help players come to grips with just that in The First Descendant.

Shifting between sessions is very easy in The Final Descendant. Players will have their Map on them at all times, which allows them to check field operations, track other gamers, story and side missions, and much more. By default, at the top of the map screen, there will be a blue Public button, and clicking this will switch sessions for that area.

There is a small catch, however: if players try to switch sessions while present in an area, they will be unable to switch sessions - and they will be notified as such by a dialog pop-up in the bottom-right corner of the screen. The solution to this is as simple as going to Albion, opening the map of the area to be set to private, and then toggling the Public session to Private.

This is because switching sessions during gameplay is not feasible as it can affect gameplay and missions negatively. Additionally, it should be noted that Albion cannot be switched to Private even while on another map as it is the main hub area for The First Descendant. That said, Private players will not have their session interrupted by randoms, so it is the ideal mode to go at it alone or with friends.

The First Descendant is available as a free-to-play game on PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Check out more articles on this game:
