How to tame Deinosuchus in ARK Survival Ascended

The Deinosuchus is among the new creatures introduced to ARK Survival Ascended from the ARK Additions mod in patch 49.4, released on July 17, 2024. It's a giant crocodile that can be found on The Island, Scorched Earth, and The Center maps. This carnivorous reptile can be an exceptional battle mount, capable of applying the Bleeding status effect on its targets.

Deinosuchus spawn locations in ARK Survival Ascended: Where can you find one?

The ARK Survival Ascended Deinosuchus can spawn in all of the three maps currently playable in the game: The Island, Scorched Earth, and The Center. However, the exact spawn locations for this giant crocodile are currently known only for The Island map.

On The Center, players have reported spotting the Deinosuchus around the Floating Island. On Scorched Earth, it has been seen in the water bodies inside caves. However, these locations are not confirmed. If you are unable to find one on these maps, you can spawn it using console commands.

Everything you need to tame a Deinosuchus

The Deinosuchus in ARK Survival Ascended requires the Passive Taming method, which involves feeding this giant crocodile its preferred food, Superior Kibble, several times until it's tamed. However, this process can be quite dangerous due to its extreme aggressiveness. Using a Ghillie Armor can aid in this process, as it allows you to get close to the creature without being detected.

Here are the crafting materials required to make Superior Kibble and Ghillie Armor:

Superior Kibble: 2x Citronal, 1x Prime Meat Jerky, 1x Large Egg, 5x Fiber, 2x Rare Mushroom, 1x Sap, 1x Water
Ghillie Armor: 26x Organic Polymer, 40x Hide, 18x Fiber

Deinosuchus taming method: Step-by-step guide

Here are the steps you must follow to tame a Deinosuchus in ARK Survival Ascended:

Equip the Superior Kibble on your hotbar and wear the Ghillie Armor before beginning the taming process.
Maintain a safe distance from the Deinosuchus and wait for it to open its mouth. This is your cue to approach it slowly until you see a feeding prompt.
Feed the giant crocodile and immediately run away to a safe distance to avoid aggro.
Once it finishes eating, it will open its mouth again. Repeat this process until the taming meter is full.
