Cosmo is the latest "premium" creature to be shipped with ARK Survival Ascended's Aberration map. It can be theoretically found on this new map, but you can't actually use this shoulder pet until you purchase the $30 Bob's Tall Tales DLC, which just got its Steampunk Ascent update. That said, Cosmo is a highly useful creature offering impressive utility, arguably more than the Oasisaur.
If you want to learn how to tame and use Cosmo, the tiny spider, in ARK Survival Ascended, you've come to the right guide.
How to find and tame Cosmo in ARK Survival Ascended
To tame a Cosmo in ARK Survival Ascended, you'll need some Chitin in your inventory, as well as some Plant Species Z seed. If you don't have the former, you can't tame this creature at all.
Once you both, try to find a Cosmo by heading over to the Blue Zone in Aberration. In our case, we found one scuttling near the rock indent at latitude 51.4, and longitude 62.6. The creature will smell the Chitin on your person and approach you of its own accord.
Wait for it to emit a green light and then feed it a Plant Species Z. You've now successfully tamed a Cosmo! It's that simple.
In case you don't have Plant Species Z, you can just feed it Chitin. In this case, it's going to be a little more tricky. You'll have to engage its green light-red light minigame. When the creature produces a green light, quickly feed it chitin and step back; when the color is red, stand completely still.
This process takes some time depending on the Cosmo's level, but at the end of it, you can pick it up as a tame.

How to get Plant Species Z Seed
Plant Species Z is an Aberration-exclusive plant that emits a dark pink hue. Once you go near one, a tentacle-like limb will sprout from it. Stand near it for about a minute, and it will spit out a Plant Species Z seed, which you can pick up.
ARK Survival Ascended Cosmo abilities and controls
Once you pick up a Cosmo, you can assign it to a hotbar slot. Afterward, click this hotbar button to equip it on your wrist. This lets you utilize Cosmo in two different ways in Ark Survival Ascended Aberration: the Shooter Mode and Swing Mode. You can switch between them by pressing "R" on your PC.
The Shooter Mode fires goo projectiles that deal surprisingly high damage. This damage will vary based on the Cosmo's level.
The Swing Mode creates a new UI element on your crosshair. You can Mouse-click when looking at a wall or ceiling to latch on to it. This uses realistic physics-based momentum, so if you latch on to something that's laterally far away enough, you can use jump (Spacebar) to hurl yourself towards it and reduce the distance this way.
The Swing Mode depletes Cosmo's charge very quickly. We recommend using a Yi Ling or similar gliders for traversal in Aberration and sticking to the Shooter Mode. You can also turn on Charge-Infused Webs for these projectiles, which especially come in handy against Nameless and Reapers.
