How to unlock and craft the Backpack Expansion in Once Human

There are few things as important in a survival-craft game as carrying capacity, which is why the Backpack Expansion is so important in Once Human. In a genre that prioritizes exploring and collecting, you never want to run out of space. If you come across a rare item or resource in Once Human, the last thing you want is to have to start dropping things to make room.

Thankfully for Once Human players, the Backpack Expansion node can be unlocked to achieve this in the memetics tree. You must meet the required level and progress in the correct tree to do so, however.

In this guide, we'll be showing you all the steps required to unlock and use this upgrade to increase your carrying capacity.

To unlock the Backpack Expansion, you must obtain it as a Memetic Specialization after a level-up. These are partially RNG options that become available once the player reaches certain levels. This particular specialization should be available starting at level 15.

Due to the RNG nature of the Memetic Specialization system, you may not be able to encounter this exactly when you want it. Thankfully, there is a guaranteed way of obtaining this. If you reach the max level in Once Human, you will be able to see all of the specialization options available to you.

Given how useful this Backpack Expansion is, it's recommended to wait until the max level to ensure you can obtain it.

After unlocking the corresponding specialization and gaining access to the expansion, you'll need to craft it. To do so, you'll need an Intermediate Workbench as well as the following materials:

• 15x Rubber
• 10x Metal Scrap
• 10x Raw Hide

With all of these resources in your inventory, you can head to the bench, select the Backpack Expansion recipe, and press 'F' (on PC) to craft it. You should see the item appear in your inventory afterward.

So long as you keep an expansion item in your inventory at all times, your carrying capacity will be increased by 40-80%. This will make it much harder for you to run out of space while traveling and looting the open world of Once Human. This will also dispel any concerns about the tedium of your character's body statistics and how they affect carrying capacity and speed.
